ReefWise Fish?

Just wondering but has anyone had any issues with fish from Reefwise staying alive. Reason i ask is i want to buy a fish there but its pricey(235). I purchased two ora mandrins that died. No big surprise there i thought. Then i bought a mccluskers wrasse he died but i had someone watching my tank so i thought maybe they f'ed up(i was out of town for work). Then i bought a mated file and midas blenny and neither of them made it either. I rarely kill fish so i find this odd. The only other fish in my tank have been there 3+ years. Except for a mated file(tropiquatics) but hes gone eating majano in another tank.

So i guess im wondering if i was unlucky or are those fish cursed?

I lost a leopard, but those are tough to begin with. He helped me out with a different fish and it's doing great. I'm 50/50 atm :)

Regardless, Brian is huge on customer service.

Brian is great, not trying to knock him at all. I love his store. I guess I love his corals. Fish I'm not so sure. Just wondering others experience with fish.

Hello,

I have a number of fish from Brian and all are really healthy and happy!

Supermale Linneatus Wrasse (250$)
China Wrasse (8 months)
Blue Spot Jawfish (4 months)
Solaris Wrasse (5 months)
Chevron Tang (8 months)
Lantern Basslet
green chromis

Only fish from there that kicked the bucket was a labouti wrasse that carpet surfed throw a hole in my canopy no bigger than a quarter!

I feel really confident buying fish and coral and still think its the best shop in Illinois.

Good to hear. Maybe I'm not acclimating long enough. Usually 2hr drip. I know his salinity is 1.017 and mine is .025. I also thought that maybe it had something to do with him pretreating with copper, then going to a tank without copper. I read this can lower the immune system of a fisj

sometimes you go through a rough patch with fish and dont know what it is. I had this happen twice before. no matter the fish it would die within a couple weeks. I never did figure out if it was something in tank.....

If I was to GUESS, it's most likely because they all get their fish from the same wholesaler (s). Regardless if they say they have a "secret" or "different" source. May not be the retailer's fault. Could be how a whole batch was transported or treated before it got to the area.

Agreed...

Agreed.... No LFS is prefect on caring for fish... Most say they QT but a 6 week QT process to keep your fish alive is insane on the LFS part that's money lost along the way... Especially if the fish dies during QTing... All LFS get fish in and push them right out so this is the reason you should QT your fish reguardless what the LFS tells you... Its all a selling tool...

I've had no problems with two fish from them. Love the prices on fish too, but I don't go for anything fancy.

Wondering what LFS 'll do if you lose it in 2 weeks. Most online stores offer 14 days money back Guarantee.

All depends on store. Tropiquatics for example doesn't offer any guarantee. The one fish I let Brian know it died he gave me a credit. Only one I was in town for when it died. All the others I didn't complain about because I was traveling when they died. The one he credited died within a week.

That's kind of aggravating of my behalf and just for that I will speak up. I was about to drop it and walk away till I saw this post. Here is my story and my review. I go there one night and drop almost $500 on three fish. Needless to say they are all gone and I have no survivors. I acclimate that night and next day one is gone. I call him immediately the next morning and tell him what happened. I know he didn't have to give me anything in return and honestly wasn't expecting anything. It was a $150 wrasse. He said I'm sorry and said I will do MY BEST for you next time you are in. I go in for the following three weekend in a row, I'm about an hour drive from him, and had my eye on a couple fish. I caught interest in a $100 fish. I said alright lets talk. he said Ill give it to you for $89. When he said best I didn't expect $10 as a return for $150 fish that went on me. Then I see a fish and I ask how much. It was a nice wrasse and wasn't expecting cheap when he told me $130. I said let me give it a thought and I'll get back at you. I go home and do some research and LA sells that fish at it's largest size for $69! Sorry for all the talking but had to let it out. I'm not bashing just sharing my experience. Thank you all for your time. :debi:
