i bought a Lumen Max 2 was sold as new and when i got it the male plug end was cut off. is this something i can get a local hard ware store or do i have to order it.
not sure of the name but the plug end looks close to a normal 3 prong plug but there are diagonal not 2 about and the ground under the 2 plug ends if that made any sense
That's actually a female end the male end would have exposed blades like this.
The socket or plug coming out of the ballast that plugs into the lamp cord should not have exposed metal prongs/ blades. The exposed blades/ prongs should be on the lamp cord coming from the bulb.
The C13 socket C14 plug that I've shown are pretty common on metal halide ballasts but there are some other types <like PFO used, that are less common and I don't know if they were made specific for their own use.
Sunlight Supply uses a type that is odd.
Is this what you have ?
If you have a ballast that already has the type you're talking about you'll have to find the lamp cord that matches ( a picture of what you have would be helpful) or you'll have to replace it with something you can find.
The reason odd type of plugs are used is so that if you had the lamp cord unplugged from the ballast you couldn't mistakenly plug it straight into the wall.
It looks like the Sun Light Supply layout ( it even has the locking tabs) but yours has two posts and a blade and the one in their picture is two blades and a post. The alignment is the same. I'd call them.
