My Regal is doing very well. He cruise the full aquairum now, pickling on the rock and at feeding time he is as agressive eating as the rest of the fish.

Because he is doing so well, and I have the orportunity to get another small one. So I went for it. I hope I will be able to get him to my tank tomorrow. I traded a bunch of SPS frags for him. My LFS trying to hadd him to the shipment they will send this evening. Will see..

Here is a curent picture of my Regal

How big the Regal need to be before we can use the gill plate spike as an indication of the sex of the Regal?
I hope to get another Pacific Juvi to add into my tank tomorrow. I wonder if at 2 inches, we can tell the sex of the fish already.

I don't QT either. I QT my clams and anemones but not my fish unless they have the disease. I do use the frag tank and the sump to isolate and get the fish ready to be place in DT

Whilst the experts are offering opinions, perhaps you could give me a positive ID on my Regal. Sorry for the poor quality of video.

.

I am an expert now :)
It is a Indian Ocean Regal. Possible Red Sea.
For sure it is not a Pacific Regal.

:D Well even I knew that, more curious if it's Red Sea, in natural light it looks crazy orange at times; then again it looks vibrant yellow at times also"¦ Regardless of origination, not sure I have ever seen an ugly Regal; they all look incredible to me.

My Regal this AM. I can clearly see that this is a Pacific Regal

I'm in the midst of eyeing out a Regal from my LFS. Red Sea variety and I'm just hoping that it'll eat soon. Can't wait to take it home.

I am sorry that you lost one of them. Did they come as a pair?
How is the other one. Is he eating well?

I bought them when they were in the same tank together, doubt it was a true pair but they got along just fine. When i bought them they had a bit of ich. Didn't notice the ich at the lfs because of the dim lighting. The other one is really active but haven't touch any food yet. I tried mysis, clams on a half shelf, and live blood worms.

great thread.. sorry for the loss.. after a year my pair and really rocking.. eat out of the water colum and follow me all over . side to side

Nice- id love a pair. I have a 4" Red Sea male. If I do attempt a pair is a smaller female the only possibility?
