Regal Angel Primer

Zoo's are like drugs to all angels, I have never found an angel that didn't love them. I had an imp once that ate several and then swam upside down for a while

The reef corner (ed) has a red sea beauty he is in N.J. Google him

Thereefcorner has little to no reviews anywhere, and the only thread on it is about how the seller refused to honor the doa, after fed ex messed up... Do you have any experience with this seller?

A quick update

A quick update

I am glad to report that today my RA respirations are normal. The scraping/flashing only lasted about 24 hours. There is still some occasional fin twitching but not as much. The white spots I are still there but I suspect they are related to physical irritation from shipping etc. and will heal.

I did a 25% water change on the QT yesterday for good measure. I added two larger pieces of LR from my main system sump yesterday. Today I have seen it picking at the rock a bit. This seems to also have made the fish more comfortable as it has something to hide behind and spends a lot of time swimming back and forth playing peak-a-boo from back there. I have not seen it consume anything yet. I started smashing blood worms into the rock today but no luck yet. I have been providing live oysters on the half shell for the last three days. I shuck a fresh one before sun up and take it out after lights out. There may be a bite out of todays oyster but I cannot say for sure. The fish is very active and is almost continually looking at stuff in the tank as if it wants to eat.

Fingers cross, I am more optimistic today than yesterday.

I picked up a new Regal Angel in Los Angeles last week. Got him home - can't get him to eat. Drat. I've tried PE Myesis, Brine, Clam on a Half Shell, and NE spectrum pellets.....hope he finds something soon.

Try blood worms yet? How long do you leave your clams in the tank?

I am not an expert on the clams. I shuck in the morning, and remove them at lights out. I just don't want them dying and fouling my tank. I do try to shuck them so only the muscle gets cut and no other damage is done.

You don't want the clam in there for more than 6 hours. It will cloud the tank and starts to smell. I take mine out after 4 hours.

I left mussels in the tank over night without ill effects.
Though usually they won't last that long - fish or clean-up crew will usually polish the shells within an hour.

Another thing I would recommend is adding some pods to the acclimatization tank. I've seen my regals going after them on the rocks. They even picked tigger pods out of the water column.

Fish looks good right now. Since it's a small tank make sure checking ammonia daily and do WC as necessary. Water quality can go bad quickly. If you haven't, try some flakes as well.

I added the cheato before the fish because it was loaded with pods. This rock came from my main system also and it is loaded with pods.

Yep, I try a little flake every day. He completely ignores anything in the water column.

I suspect (read hope) he is getting something off the rocks because he is not getting super thin in the belly yet.

Here is a quick video of mine today day 5 in QT. It must be eating cause it sure looks thick for a fish that is not eating. What do you guys think?
