Regal Angel Primer

Here is the latest picture of my baby that I received last year

And in June 2016

She went from much smaller than the Goldens to much larger. The idea that Regals grow slow are not always accurate? The sad part when it warms up I will have to rehome this little guy

How are the two in your tank at home. Are they doing OK together now?
The on I got from you is going great. Fat and is the dominate fish of the two Regal Angels in my tank.

My little Maldives baby regal has also grown significantly in just a few months. And it has gotten quite fat. This one easily doubled it's mass in just half a year. That is one of the reasons why I'm thinking about getting a partner for it.

I kind of feel that all the others have grown a little as well, but nowhere near of what the little one added.

My Sumatra pair behaves more and more like a bonded pair, but sometimes there are still chases.

My little regal from last year has doubled in size and seems to be getting along with the other larger regal angel. Although the bigger one still seems to enjoy a chase every so often.

How is your Purple Tang?

Does he terrorize the tank?

The Purple Tang did go after the small Regal ripping two gashes in the Angel's side before the Angel learned not to swim next to the Tang. The tang still does some tail slapping but now keeps the blade closed. I used a divider for the first week to give the little Angel some time to settle in and then a mirror for a couple weeks to keep the Tang busy. The smaller Regal often shows a submissive posture when next to the larger one, but still gets chased away. I have noticed the body of the larger one changing and getting longer and not so rounded. Maybe its turning into a male and it will soon bond with the smaller fish?? IDN

Well Regal was DOA, replacement will ship Monday. Not a good sign, hopefully the next one is healthy.

Looks like you got yours from liveaquaria, I had the same experience but the replacement was in better shape for sure. Delivery was a mess and required that I get theverything package about 30 miles from me but that was not on la. The little guy ate pellets right away along with hikari mysis.

Sure was, I had a shipping delay. This time I'll be at UPS 0900 to pick him up. What pellets did he eat?

The hardest part of this hobby is when you knowingly mess up. The following is part of a write up on what happened;
My story starts with a mistake in buying an adult when I purchased a Blueface angel from a good online store and placed him in QT in my 100 gallon Rubbermaid tub. After a week he was eating and doing so well I placed him in my sectioned off tank. First mistake was not leaving him in Q. T. for another two weeks and I did not place him in a FW dip, second my Prazi Pro was expired, third with the tighter quarters my larger Regal almost killed my smaller one, shredded her from head to tail, which I still don't understand because they were getting along great. I removed the barricade immediately and everything was back to normal, or so I thought. No more picking, the Blueface was fine with everyone, until another week went by and the BF died? In another week I lost everything except the large Regal, Black Tang, Flame Angel Trio. Two weeks later I am left with one cleaner wrasse, cleaner shrimp and my two female Flame Angels. A week later the larger female killed the smaller.

WTH?!

Ouch did you not treat the new Queen?

I am guessing you meant Blueface?
Three hours of worthless Prazi Pro Bath was all it received, I should not have skipped the FW dip. Plus the biggest mistake was not leaving it in QT longer where the comment
"The hardest part of this hobby is when you knowingly mess up" comment came from.
Also I received a medium juvenile regal from QM courtesy of my LFS and coral credit on Friday. It came in very skinny, shrunk in, and only lasted two days in QT. Unlike Bif my Regal did not come with a guarantee, so I am out of $150 in store credit!

I am so sorry Alton. I certainly know what you mean with:
"The hardest part of this hobby is when you knowingly mess up"
My clam disaster and wipe out of my Acropora were disaster of similar proportion.

I normally do not pay much attention to expiration date of medication other than the liquid ones. Most solid medication last much longer than expiration date indicated. Liquid one not so much.

My Regal will be here this morning. I'll be there at 0900 as soon as doors open to pick her up.
