Regal Tang in 75 gallons

Tang tank

New member
I have recently added a Regal Tang to my 75 gallon reef tank. She is one of 3 fish (2 TR Percs and her). I read in Sticky Bertoni's post that the recommended tank size is 240 gallons. Right now she is very small...about the size of a 50cent piece. How long will I have before needing to upgrade the tank size for her?

Right now I am feeding her 3 times a day and she has algae clips to graze on 24/7...is that too much...not enough...just right...every time I put food in the tank she is all over it!

Tangs that size require very frequent feeding, so I think your schedule is about right.

I can't commen on the tank size though, I don't have any experience. Everything I've read points to them being very fast growers, so I'd imagine it'll need a bigger tank pretty quick.

Wow where did you find a regal that size?? :bounce3:

Good luck & enjoy it while it's small - after a year or new - trade her in for another small one & raise another!

I'm jelous!

I got her a my lfs. I had to chose between her and one that was much much larger. Maybe the size of a tea cup saucer. I'm happy to hear they grow fast but would like it if they stop growing at about 5-6inches.
