Looking for a Reliable hangon skimmer for a 55 gallon tank , lots of on line suppliers admit sometimes hard to get replacement pumps quickly as they do not stock some of the pumps, so what do you then do if needlewheel goes south after a few months, What about the new improved Remora s , Any thoughts please would be appreciated.

i have a psk 75, however a psk 100 would be ideal for you, first time using one though i think they copied a japanesse design works great though my buddy has the 100 and boy did it save his life he went to jail the day after he bought it, his lights were stuc on for a week when we were able to get the keys to help him out we were suprized to see the tank was not that bad collection cup was full of black nasty, any way the rock was real green but no hair alge water was very low but clear it save his tank really anyway good story dont know how long the wheel last in thesse things but they work short break in if you can afford a reef octopus get that there actully not that pricey. also i heard they make thesse mesh wheels that dont burn out?

I have had great success with my 120g sumpless using just a Warner marine h2, going on 4 years, this skimmer is discontinued but the aquamaxx is identical in design to my skimmer
With that said, I recently bought a used Warner marine h2 as a backup, tried it out and works even better than the one I have.....maybe look for one used

Currently using a Remora Pro (Mag3 w/ preskimmer box) on a 125 and it works quite well...
I have an available clean used Remora (MJ1200 w/ Preskimmer box) that was used on a 55 that I took down & it worked pretty well. Has both the O-ring and set screw for Height adjustment of the collection cup. PM me if your interested in it...$80 + shipping
