remove bracklet in 210g

hi, i have a 210g rr tank that has 2 top bracklets as part of a top trim, i like to cut 'em off for a better light spread out to the whole tank. is it good or bad ideal? does is physically cause any damaged to the tank at all in the future? they'r plastic, easy to do so.....any inputs would be greatful..

I'd love to remove the brace of mine as well, but everything I have read about it says that it's a bad idea and has the potential for big trouble.
