Renegade Neon Goby found in the (Remote) Sump!!

Mako Shark II

Fish are Friends not Food
Well, my Neon Goby obviously went for the ride of his life!!!!!

This morning, while my checking water params, I found him at the bottom of the Sump, right at the (Un-screened) filter return inlet the Main pump!!!

Now, let's think about what THAT took...

- He got Through the overflow box, through the gutter guard or through the finger strainer at the surface...
- Traveled some 10' (through many 90's) to get to the Sump Inlet via 1" PVC in an adjacent room...
- Was then Impaled on the stack of Bio-Balls in the Sump...
- Survived, and somehow Swam through the Bio-balls attached to the Refugium...
- Avoided the Skimmer suction...
- Somehow got over the Spillway divider...
- Got through the Filter Floss... (?!)
- Dodged the Phos-lock bag & grate
- and found himself by the Inlet to suction side of the Main pump and managed NOT to get sucked In!!!!

So, I tore everything apart and got him out, but he's a little banged up; probably the Bio-Ball impalement.

I will quarantine him, but what should I treat the water with for his lacerations?? He's a little scraped up. I already fed him and he's readily eating.

Maybe he just needed a little excitement in his life!!

All of us need a little wild ride everynow and then, we get bumps and brused and scrapes, but come back stronger and "maybe" smarter in the long run!!!

"That which does not kill us makes us stronger" maybe that applies to neon gobies as well!!!!!

A little closure:

Well, I had intended on hold this dude in quarantine, but he crashed my groove and slipped out of the breeder box before I was ready.

In any event, here he is after the ordeal..... Chasing "tail" (!!!), my Catalina Goby’s!

(I think he'll be Fine!)
