Hmmm......I would like to know more about them. What gives them the ability to reduce phosphates lower?

So it is bio pellets mixed with GFO? If that is the case, I am not sure I like that. Where does the gfo go? Does it just break down into small particles and flow out of the reactor?

I wanted more control over the Gyre pumps in my tank so I picked up two Ice Cap Gyre Apex interface modules.



Setup was easy and pretty straight forward. I then got the laptop out and programmed them. I matched up different flow profiles and observed them to make sure they did not result in a wave crashing over the top of the tank.



Each pump varies in intensity and duration throughout the day helping to kick things up and change flow patterns several times a day.

Overall, I am happy with the new flexibility and it was pretty easy to use.

Not going to lie, I debated about getting them or not because of the price. In the end I am happy with them and would do it again.

The one thing I've learned from my research is you need to have a re-circulating reactor to have a better chance for success regardless of brand. That gives you control of the tumbling and the flow separately.

ecoBak Plus are my favorite bio pellets. In addition to regular bio pellets they have a vinegary smell to them. Probably multiple carbon sources to encourage multiple strains of bacteria

Just got a big container of them and will be SLOWLY adding them to the mix as the other bio pellets deplete

I went with the Orphek Atlantik for my frag tank light. It will be a several weeks until the stand is complete and the tank is up an running. I may play with this light over my display at some point.
