Rescue Corals

I did try to feed some cyclopees that i had bc i didnt trust the reef roids i had. after doing reserche looks like they have a shelf life of about 1 year and iv had it for longer. i couldnt really tell if the trumpt ate but it stayed a little puffed out so i will keep trying.

Good! Do you have it in an area where there is very little flow and lowish light? Make sure you turn all your pumps off when you feed it. In the past when corals ive had were extremely damaged, i would take them out of the tank and place them in a cup or bowl of tank water and squirted the food in it. I would stir the water every 5 mins for a half hour so this way the coral doesnt have to fight the current or other crotters and can eat with ease

i removed the trumpet and placed in bucket and spot fed cyclopeeze and it seemed to respond well i will try to feed again in a few days.

Thats great news! Glad to hear it man. Keep up the feeding every other or third day and keep an eye on it and it will hopefully return to its former glory soon enough! Keep me apprised!

Great thread! I love stuff like this. Here is my contribution. A duncan that I purchased as rubble rock. I did not know what the slimy part was so I stood it up to see what would happen.

3 weeks after purchase, first hint of tentacle nubs:

Hey tweekedta, hows the candy cane doing?

i actually tried taking a photo yesterday with my phone but where it is in the tank now it doesn't come out great. but i does seem to be going in the right direction! i spot feed it reef roids again yesterday and almost all the mouths were opened up at then end of feeding. hopefully i can get a nice camera to take some good pics soon thanks.

I am glad to see so many are interested in saving these corals. I don't have any pics but I have saved a few myself. some are too willing to give up on a coral and you can get a nice piece for cheap or sometimes nothing.

I have one true LPS rescue, a favia. It was in bad shape when I got it. Its now a decent sized mini colony and doing well. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

that Duncan rescue is awesome its amazing how tough Duncan's are. I got mine from a guy whose tank crashed and it was the only survivor, it had 15 heads now 7 months later its pushing 40.

Glad to hear!! Keep up the feeding and itll be good as new before you know it! Hope to see a pic soon! Keep me updated please!!!

I love all of these rescue stories! I hope someday that I can do this as well - once I've learned a bit more, of course.

Rescue Corals

Just picked up a 1 1/2" red orange and green scolly with only a little bone showing on a rock with a equally hurt favia for $25, pictures soon, currently in bayer dip!
