Resun Waver-15000

These look like they'll push a lot of water (especially with that high 4000gph setting). Can the controller be set to oscillate between the settings or is it just able to stick with one set point?

With this PH available, I don't know what I'm going to get now. Originally, I was going to get the Nanostreams, but they don't have anothing stronger than the 6055/6045. Then I was going to do the Maxijet mod. After that, I found the Koralia and the mod that'll push the 2000gph that I was looking for. And finally this PH.

Decisions... Decisions...

hahahh, your funny kelby.. I say just wait for a while till these new PH's KORALIA and these new ones flood the market and get more concrete reviews on em'

Hey,

Do you think if you fudge around with these pumps, you'd be able to run them off a Tunze multicontroller. I mean both are DC pumps. It just seems like the one that comes with the Resun lacks sophistication.

It seems like it would work fine if you could work out the kinks with interfacing the Tunze multicontroller with this pump.

Peace,
John H.

Just thought I'd check in with a report on my Resun wavemaker.
So far it's stopped running 5 times in 4 days. Each time I have to disconnect the power to the control module for about 10 seconds to get it to start back up.
I can't say I'm that too surprised, but I was hoping they would be better quality.

That sucks... anybody else with the same problems?

Maybe you could try running them without the controllers and see if the problem is with the controller or the pump.

The first one i took home ran for 30 seconds then stopped. The lights were still on and switching on the control box.
I took it back to the shop, turned out the control box was not functioning even though the lights were on and switching.

They replaced it and so far it has worked perfectly for the past 3 weeks.

To answer chem-e
The pump speed changes from slow to medium to fast back to slow etc.
You can change the time that each speed is held(5 secs min i think) but you cant change the sequence.

This isn't what I wanted to hear. Well, mine will be here next week, hopefully mine functions.

IanJ, did you have to pay for shipping again, because after another $40 shipping, I'm not sure if it would be worth it or not.

I'm not sure about running it without the control box, but I THINK you can set the time to zero on any given speed, effectively shutting that speed off. I think. I'll let you know if nobody else does.

Unfortunately you can't run these without the control module (well at least not with out modifying the wiring).

Also you can't shut any of the three speed options off. All you can do is turn down the time it spends on each setting to the lowest value - which is 5 seconds. So basically you cannot run it wide open all the time, or on low all the time. No matter what you do it will always cycle between low, med, and high.
The control is really simplistic...I guess that's why it's so cheap.

I hope the problems people are having are all related to the control box, not the pump itself. I suppose at the very least, the pump could be wired into a DC transformer, right? Maybe then I could juice it with 50W and get 6000 gph out of it, hehe. Would that work? The propeller and magnet are huge.

Sounds like we need an electrician to chime in here. This kind of breakdown worries me.

I wonder if this thing could be wired successfully to use it in a wave box.

I bet you could totally use this on a Tunze controller if you purchased the transformer for the sucker.

Kind of like how Tunze 6000 can be upgraded to a Tunze 6100 with a simple switch in transformers.

Someone do it... do it!

Peace,
John H.

I'm nearly 100% sure the problem is in the controller.
When I started troubleshooting the problem the first thing I did was unplugged the cord that goes between the controller and the pump. When I plugged it back in nothing happend.
When I unplugged the cord from the DC adapter to the controller and plugged it back in the pump started up.
So it seems that resetting the controler by removing the power for 10 seconds does the trick.

I'm guessing that someone with a bit of electroics knowledge could probably rebuild or modify the existing controller. I

Well, I just got mine and hooked it up.

First impressions:

Fast shipping. China to my door in 6 days.

The box (which was a shoe box, lol) smelled like gasoline. Weird.

It's big, and the bracket barely fits my 120 gallon AGA.

Doesn't move quite as much as I was expecting. I think my maxi-stream moves as much, which makes me appreciate more how well that little thing works.

I think the reason it doesn't seem as if it moves as much water is because of the controller. When it's at the "big" setting, it's moving a good amount in a nice, wide stream. But, it only lasts for 10 sec, then it's back to a measly 500 gph for a minimum of 10 sec. If I could alternate just between middle and big settings, I would get an average of about 1500 gph more. That's a lot. Right now, it's an average of about 2200 gph.

At the "big" setting, the controller buzzes. A little worrisome, I have a feeling it's going to stop working like other people's. We'll see.

Right now, I give it a C+, but it's only been on my tank for 15 minutes, so we'll have to wait and see how it grows on me.

As long as the pump itself doesn't crap out ... I'm sure that a better controller will show up soon. Everyone here is VERY inventive :)
