Resurrection

First inhabitants. Green BTA with pink tips. They're bleached out because of my tank being offline for a couple years and having really basic lighting. A powermodule with new bulbs and two reefbrites shocked them a bit lol. As soon as these color up I'll be selling .

WOW Charles,
Awesome :) Now let's get that frag tank stuffed with frags, lol, I have quite a few corals ready to cut when you are ready, lol...

I'm ready Perry!! Just got to figure out when I can get out to ya. You're a good ways from Winter Garden right?

I definitely need to make a trip though.

LOL,
Yeah Lake Helen is about 13 miles east of Sanford, not really as far as it sounds, I am close to I-4, so not much travel time after the exit. I have weekends off, and here most nights during the week, so pretty wide open :) I have to run to work now, but I will shoot you a PM with my number, I can cut and let heal anything you really want, but I am sure you want to know exactly what I have, lol... No worries, whenever you get free time we will get something together.

That's not so bad, I was thinking you were almost to the coast or something. Sounds good, this weekend is my birthday so I'll be busy with that most of the weekend. Might be able to get out Sunday.

If you have a second, shoot me a PM or text of what you have that you can frag and how much you want for them so I can have an idea of how much cash to bring. :)

Pump came in, I'll be using the super dart impeller at first. I think I'll need the flow. If it's too much it came with the regular dart impeller and swordtail impeller as well.

No such thing as too much flow in sps tank. :)

Apparently there is. The return wasn't so much for flow as it was to add pressure to my return line because the manifold was stealing so much pressure for the frag tank and the bio pellet reactor. The 4 MP40's on the display are for flow.

So I installed it with the Super Dart impeller and you can't believe how much flow it pushed. It was insane, it over ran my 1" full siphon drain AND my 1" emergency drain AND overflowed my tank from the top onto the living room floor. Unbelievable

So I switched to the Swordtail impeller (much lower flow but higher pressure) and it over ran my main and emergency drain and was headed for a living room incident too. So I then switched to the Snapper impeller and that was too much too. Luckily I have ball valves on my dual return lines so I just throttled the returns back so my drains can handle it. The flow to the frag tank is nice now and the bio pellet reactor valve is less than half open, which makes it nice to flush the reactor from time to time if I want to.

So I took my old Snapper apart to clean it and keep as a spare. Turns out about 50% of the impeller was clogged with limpet and baby snail shells. So it turns out that my original Snapper was probably up to the job, but just needed to be cleaned :/

Not a huge deal though, I had been meaning to replace it even though it's been running great. It's been running for a long time and I feel better with a new pump in place.

Quick update. I'm up to about 30 frags and most haven't been in long. I picked up two cleaner shrimp and a CUC of a couple Dozen snails, hermits and 4 emerald crabs. Some gfo took care of my cyano quickly, I believe my no3/p04 balance was off but the gfo was a bit too aggressive and paled out my colors. I'm working on feeding heavy and aminos to color them back up.

Sorry for the iPhone pics. It's all I have. I'm broke :/

And one of my favorites. I'm a sucker for Millie's. They're common fast growers but I love them.

My iPhone hates the blues but this came out exactly how it looks in person even though the blue balance looks off. I'm impressed the phone could get a semi macro shot.

Quick update, I suspect my system to be nitrogen limited. I've seen the signs of it showing from the start of my reboot. It was amazing to see my N03 go from 30ppm to undetectable in about a week while my P04 stays elevated to the point I've found myself using GFO to keep it in check. Since I'm running a bacterial system (MB7 & biopellets) with a very sterile setup that allows for little to no detritus and the phosphate being my only challenger I've decided to start dosing KN03 to see if I can get my redfield back in line and the system more balanced.

I've made a solution and 10ml's still have my N03 at 0 so I've dosed a second round of 10ml's today and will test again Sunday to see if I can detect any N03. My goal is to get it around 2ppm and maintain that level.

I am seeing some small hair algae growth and my skimmer is producing very little skimmate, but it was ROCKING foam when I first restarted right up until the time my N03 bottomed out.

I know KN03 dosing is controversial to say the least but on some rare cases it can be the solution as I hope it is for me. I'll keep an eye on my skimmer cup, I think that'll be my first sign that bacterial colonies are blooming again and export is happening. If this is the case I'll need to dial in N03 dosing that will control my P04. If nitrogen limitation is the issue then P04 should be completely controlled by N03 import. I don't want my P04 stripped to zero

Sweet milli, where did you get it?

Thanks. From a local reefer. I believe he got it from RMF

Here's one I took yesterday. Can only take pics for 3 hours when the main lights are on or my phone won't pick it up.
