return pump

Greetings. I need a return pump for a 95 gallon display with a 55 gal sump. I have not done any research yet because I just finished removing my POC Mag 12 that was leaking current and killing my fish for the last week.

Can someone recommend one for me please. I have a tunze on my I-tech 100 and am very impressed with it so it looks like you may have a repeat customer. Thanks.

How much turnover are you wanting and what is the headpressure you are dealing with?

The 1073.040 is the larger of the new silence pumps, pushing approx 800 at zero feet it is a less powerful pump than the 12.

After posting this question I looked on MD and it showed two silcence pumps
The first was $85 and had a GPH of 694.
The second the .040 was $150 and only pushed 100 more GPH.

When I was running the Mag 12 I had it dialed down very low like 300 GPH back to the display and the rest in my sump. Why was I using it? Because I had it lying around and did not want to buy one more piece of equipment. I guess I should have though.

If I went with one of the Tunze I would feed all the flow back into the display. I figure I would still be in the 300 - 400 gph range with the smaller one which would be fine with me: less noise etc.

The 1073.020 cannot pump very high so please check the flow chart, it loses flow quite quickly too head pressure and at 4ft it does only about 200 gph, vs the 1073.040 that will do about 450gph.

Ok thank you Roger. I was hoping to get away with the smaller (cheaper) one but it may not work with this application.
