return pumps....what are you using?

I need to replace my return pump on my 90g tank...
I wanted to know from people whom have a 90g or higher tank
what return pump are they using? Especially pumps that are not plumbed into the sump...

My option at this time is Mag-drive 24 but I heard thats a poor choice due to heat and wattage usage.

im running an eheim 1260 in sump on my 92 corner, this pump is excellent though i only used it because i had it on my 55g previously. i would have bought the 1262 if i didnt have this one already.

btw, i was originally going to buy an ocean runner because they are cheaper/more efficient but they were out of stock so i bit the bullet and got the eheim, no regrets

I have an Eheim 1262 on my 120 and it does well. A 1260 on a 90 should do well also.

Melvin why not an eheim they are great pumps and extremely reliable.
I would run one no doubt.

Mel, it might be a better idea to get a slower flow thru your sump to maximize your filtration especially if you have a fuge. i use a little giant external that gives me about 300-400 gph (at 6ft head) and that slower flow seems to be working on keeping my nitrate below 10 all the time with 14 fish. you can always get some nice powerheads and hide them in the tank or do a closed loop for flow. just a thought man.

and i vote for the eheim and for about 300 gph thru the sump (that will still give you a bit of flow out of the overflow as well)
