Returning to what I love - My new 180 Rimless

Ok... So here I am bored again and decided that I was going to make a ghetto attempt at taking top-down shots with my iPhone on my T5 tank (very difficult due to light tube reflections that run across the top of the water . I actually used my hand to block the light directly over the corals that I took pictures of. Whata' you know.. The even spread of T5 light allowed me to do this with fairly decent results... Now I just need a better camera... :lmao:

A very bad shot of my Aussie Strawberry Shortcake frag that I got a couple of months ago that has colored up very nice.. I couldn't get a good zoom on it.. But, here it is anyway..

One of my favorites (ORA Purple Plasma)that I really didn't like at first.. It took a while to acclimate to the T5s

Looking great. The corals have amazing colours. The Leng Sy Cap and Green digitata look awesome!

Amazing quality from your i-phone!! :spin2:

Thanks Padrino! I can alway tell if something needs to be tweaked in my tank by its color. The color is really vibrant..

AE Flatworm update... So, I continued blowing of the acros every 3 days.. I purchased a MJ1200 for this purpose and brought some Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure for any new additions.. I tried 1 leopard wrasse, which after hiding for 7 days came out looking beautiful, the very next day I found him on the sandbed breathing heavy with what looked like a worm hanging out of his mouth.. This is a very difficult fish... He died. I also tried two melanurus wrasse (male & female) and they did not last either.. Not understanding what could be wrong... I just chucked it up to the fish being unhealthy because my params are great.. The only thing I could think of is that these wrasse that I tried all like to burrow into the sand at night and they did not like the more coarse subsrtate that I use. Finally, I added a Yellow and two green Coris.. Now, let me say this... these green coris are pretty nasty little buggers. They don't like some of my other fish and the fish don't like them so, they all seem to stay away from each other.. The two green coris don't seem to like each other either, but one thing they do love is finding stuff to eat on an off the corals.. These guys are constantly on the hunt. After a few weeks of them being in the tank, I am no longer noticing any flatworms blowing off my acros that were affected.

All in all, I lost two frags... a candlelight and a wild light blue Aussie frag. However, the Purple Mille colony and the ORA Bellina Colony that were affected are now recovering nicely thanks to these little green wrasse. Both colonies have seen a nice return in color. I damaged a Purple monster frag in the process of blowing of my corals.. It was never infected, but I thought for sure that I had killed it.. I am happy to report that it has also recovered...

The purple Mille is atually turning color and is coming back in green. It had lost all polyp extension and the polyps are now resurfacing again... Go figure.. My guess is that once it fully heals from the AEFW damage, it will return to its original color. Here are a couple of pics of the little green heroes

Glad to hear things are back on their way up. Great work Jon! Sorry to hear about the leopard wrasse. They are one of my favorite

Thanks Bro! I was a bit worried for a while, but things are looking pretty good.. I had a potters leopard for a while. Leopards are really beautiful fish.

So today, I purchased a new DSLR.. I am a noobie to photography, so here is my first attempt at trying the new camera out... So long iphone Photos! 1080p video soon to come once I figure that out...

Thanks Terry! This Achilles is one fantastic fish. He eats everything! He's been with me for three weeks and getting nice and fat. He's showing some white spots since day three, but its been getting better, day by day. I'm really hoping he continues to do well..

Congratulations Jonathan on the new camera!! Which one did you end up getting?

The new pictures and tank look great. That Achilles tang also looks great. What size is it approximately and what do you feed him/her? I am interested in one but scared since I already have x2 tangs and don't want any problems caused and most of the hiding spots that would be suitable are already taken.

Thanks V1 :) I ended up going with the 7d. Finding the T2i in the States was virtually impossible. I opted for the kit with a 28 to 135 zoom with an additional fixed Canon 2.8 100mm macro lens..

The Achilles is about 4 inches from mouth to tail. He is currently 3rd in the food chain behind my Yellow and Hippo tangs. Provinding he continues to do well, he will run the tank one day.. He eats Sea veggie Nori Sheets rolled up with prime reef flakes soaked in garlic and selcon. He also eats PE mysis and spectrum pellets (also soaked).. He is a PIG! and I am so grateful for it after hearing the horror stories of those that don't eat and/or have poor appetites. Flow is very important for these fish. He loves to ride the current. I feed him as much as I can, which has actually helped to deepen the colors in my tank..

Did you get your achilles locally or online? The Achilles is one of my favorite fish, but can never find one that eats.
