That's it for now...

Thanks Guys! My CO2 tank for my CRX is empty and I've been running with just kalk over the the last week.. Thank goodness that Carbon dosing requires ALK to be low... It seems all the welding supply stores close at 12:00, so i lost out today.. I will have to get the tank refilled early in the week..

Mike, can you tell me a little about how you're practicing the balling method with your tank?

:eek1::eek1::eek1::eek1::eek1: Everything looks AMAZING!!!!!!!

Seriously, you should be proud of what you have achieved thus far.

Man, I miss my tank. I cant wait to get my new setup going!!! :hammer:

I recently had the same conversation with Sonny (sunnyx). I really like the par value of the Blue + tubes. So far, I'm really happy with my current combo. I grew to not like the UVL antinic white bulb. I only used the antinic white because there were folks who stated that it was similar in appearance to the Fiji Purple (WRONG- not even close). The KZ Fiji Purple is such an awesome bulb and when mixed with a blue+ for Dusk/dawn, the color mix is outstanding. I like your first combo.. I'm not a fan of antinic bulbs because of their lack of par..

Got my PM in the other day....wow is this a nice fixture, and friggin bright too!

I didn't like the actinics at all.....compared to the blue+ they were greyish looking and DIM.

Anyway, this is what I have in there now...gonna roll with this until the tank arrives from Miracles and I'll see what it looks like...if it's too blue I'll replace a blue+ for an AB special...although I prefer a blue tank.

Just really excited about setting up this tank.....haven't been in the hobby for about 5 years.

That' s going to be a nice lighting combo, very similar in color to a Radium on an Icecap ballast. I used to light running lots of Blue's but it killed my reds and yellows. I suggest that you purchase an extra AB Special just in case. Also, move the fiji into the second from the front slot. This should help highlight the corals better.

Good luck!

SunnyX,

Yeah, put the FP in the second slot? Ok, will do. IF I were to replace a blue+ with a AB special (if tank is too blue), which slot would you stick it? My 3rd and 6th are dusk dawn. I have extra blue+ and AB's.

Hello,

I would put it in the 7th slot.

Corals look great. The Bellina is also my fav! Don't see too many out there. I think it is a little more "touchy" coral than the rest of the ORA line. Can't beat the deep purple base and extra long green polyps!

Thanks Sonny! I really appreciate the kind comments and all your help along the way.. I had the pleasure today of meeting "V1...rotate" (Author of the "Reef in the Sky" thread) today in New York. What a great guy! We both agreed that you have not only brought the rimless design to the forefront of the hobby with the beauty of your tank, but also contributed so much to the hobby by being helpful and responsive to folks like myself that seek your advice.. Thank you! I can definitely relate to how much you miss it but I am really looking forward to what you have in store.... Let's get it movin' !!! :lmao:

Good luck with it. You're going to love this fixture.. I like the lighting Combo, but agree that you should keep an additional AB Special on hand to balance it out if it appears too blue to you.

Thank you :). It really is a great coral with awesome color. You're right. I don't see it that much. However, it is available. I think that folks don't realize how beautiful it becomes and the fact that it's a slow grower doesn't help.

Hey Jonathan. It was great to meet you today too and thanks for taking time off to catch up. Time flew and we could have talked all day... lol. We did!
I believe there are some more fish shops in the Brooklyn area so I'll try to get to them in the future.

The new pictures of your corals look fantastic. Just don't fall in the tank when leaning over to take the top down shots. :D

Cheers

This round of pictures are top notch Jon.....

Thanks D! This camera box is a very cool photo tool to have.

+1 very interested

I guess mike will chime in on the balling method at some point Taz.. However, if anyone else is currently using this method, I would love to hear about it..

Hey Andrew,
Thanks Andrew and thanks again for the suggestion on the camera box. I will try my best to be careful.. I'm more worried about my Canon 7D sinking to the bottom of the tank :lmao: As for meeeting, it was my pleasure.. I'm sure they were ready to kick us out at some point. We definitely had some more to talk about, but there's always the next time :) We'll get back to converstaion while checking out some of the other shops when you return..

Take care and have a safe flight home..

I had to take my CRX off-line and just run it part time. It seems that between it and the Kalk, the ALK raises too much. This is actually ok with me.. I now run it part time just to make sure that the tank is getting some of the minerals it needs in between the weekly water changes.. I'm assuming that as the corals grow the demand will change, but for now, the kalk is doing the job!.....Talk about a CHEAP effective way to go... Here are some misc pics I snapped tonight... I hope you enjoy..
