Returning to what I love - My new 180 Rimless

Jon I just ran through your entire build thread & I find it very inspirational! I was moved by your opening & it followed through this thread. I see that alot of people really care/respeact you here with good reason not just your skills but your attitude.

Keep Reefing......

Thank You.. No updates at this time... The tank has been trying to stabalize after a high PO4 spike that went unoticed for some time.. I'm just letting the tank settle right now.. Within a month I will post some updated pics...

In this hobby its all about being consistent and staying on top of things especially with SPS's. You already know what your doing wrong and it's just a matter of time until you get your reef back to the way it was. You already proved to yourself you can maintain and keep an amazing tank. I believe you will be able to do it again, perhaps even better if that even possible. Good luck and all the best. Cheers!

Hey Jon, I hope you had a great thanksgiving. Sure miss seeing the pictures of your tank. How is the fight coming man? I hope things have turned around. Hang in there and things will get better.

Hello everyone,

I know it has been a while since my last post and I'd like to thank everyone for all the support and inspiration that you have given me over the last few years. Sandy played her hand and she won. All of my SPS are done. My clams, some fish (including my powder blue)and a few LPS miraculously survived. To say I'm heartbroken would be an understatement, but in retrospect, I am humbled because I still have a roof over my head and warmth where countless others lost their homes and in some cases their lives as a result of Sandy.

So, I've decided to take a step back for a bit and get my head together along with figuring out how and if I will go forward with the hobby. In the interim, I will be moving the remaining livestock to my buddy Jzdad's tank for safekeeping(Thank you Will).

I had two very inspriational phone calls this morning that have helped me to look at things differently. Thank you to MGNY(Lost his Beautiful tank and propagation system as a result of Sandy) and tegee. The kindness that is expressed within this hobby never cease to amaze me. So, there may still be a glimmer of light at the end of a very difficult journey.

I will be certain to update you all in a few months should I decide to jump back in the ring. My very best to you all in the New Year!

Gee terrible news buddy! Gonna miss your updates for sure. My jaw bout hit the floor seeing your thread pop up haha. Enjoy the stress free time off!!!

Best of luck whatever you do. Things dont always work out the way we want to due to forces out of our control. I do hope you will be back someday soon.

You and your SPS tank was a big part of the SPS section of this forum; and will be missed until you come back. :(

See you soon my friend.

Awe man Jon, Im really sorry man. Your tank has really been a huge inspiration to me and its really been great chatting with you and getting lots of advice over the years. I really hope you'll come back but I completely understand your position. Best of luck in the new year, make sure to check in on us from time to time.

Hi Jon,
Really sad to hear the calamity had taken a toll.
But I'm sure it's just temporary and the braveheart reefer in you will bounce back soon.
Your tank will for sure always remain an inspiration and also will the kind comments you had posted for me. Thank you for that...
Looking forward to your return :)

Your tank looks amazing! Not sure if I missed it but, what color combo are you using in our T5 fixture? Your colors look great.
Thanks

So sorry to hear about your loses. I've had the same thing happen on my old 4x2x2, lost everything after power outages.

Hope you persist with your tank as it is defiantly one of my all time favourites. Hope to see an update soon

Good luck from Australia.

Aaron

Sorry to hear Jon. I know you put a lot of time and effort into your reef. I just got back into the hobby after a 2 year break just before the storm hit. I had to break down it down due to not having power for 5 weeks, but I am running again. I hope you get back in it as well :). You are welcome to frags of anything in my reef once I stock it ;)

Thanks Everyone. You all are the best! I sincerely mean that :)

Rich, Glad to hear you're back in and even happier to hear that you were able to recover after Sandy.. I've always admired your skills in this hobby an I will be sure to reach out to you!

To be continued....

Hey Jonathan, Sorry to read about your tank, Sandy did the same to me as well. Fish did fine all corals and clams lost (was restarting the tank so not too much in there at the time).
