Returning to what I love - My new 180 Rimless

I think it is worth a shot Jonathan, I am running a couple on my tank and I like the colors. I believe they are close to the fiji purple though, from what I hear. The procolor bulbs definately bring out the POP in the reds, pinks and blues. If you haven't read about them look here http://www.atiaquaristik.com/index.php?id=146,0,0,1,0,0
As always, you've got some nice colors already though!

If you check out the procolor, let me know what you think.

Thanks For the info Taz... I may just look into the pro color. I have seen them
on tanks will all Aqua blue specials and they look great.. It adds a nice splash of color with that configuration..

Jonathan, Didn't you run ozone on your old tank? Are you running or plan on running ozone in this one?

Taz

Hey Taz,

I forgot that small detail. I am using ozone on this tank... I know some may frown on using it with a bacterial driven system like what I'm running, due to the chance that the Ozone will kill a lot of the free-floating bacteria in the tank. I run it for two reasons. First, because the higher your bacteria concentration becomes in your tank, the more it can negatively affect the Oxygen in the system. I use ozone to counteract the possibility of waking up to find that my tank crashed due to the bacteria reaching critical mass and suffocating the tank. The second reason I'm using it, is because I understand that carbon dosing can cause a yellowing of the water over time.. Using Ozone can counteract this yellowing..

Looks great so far. I had to tag along on this one...

Thanks a lot killagoby. Welcome aboard! :)

Ok.. I took out the Pure Antinic and replaced it with one of the existing Blue Plus... So now, my dusk/dawn tubes are the Fiji Purple and a Blue Plus. In the place of the Antinic, I placed a Midday tube, directly in the center of the fixture.... The Midday bulb counterbalances some of the blue hue from the Blue Plus bulbs.. This is probably temporary for now, but I actually like the look and have more PAR in the tank because of it. Here are a few pics with all lamps on. I can actually see the difference vs precious pictures...

Hey Buddy..
Whats up?... I am in dilema here:)/// should i switch to a T5 or not:)) I really love my Radiums look and how corals looks under this bulbs, but i have really good offer to get very nice T5s fixure with dimmibale ballasts...so i dunno:)

Mike, I like you.. love radiums and wattage is wattage, but I can attest to the fact that your tank will stay much cooler resulting in lower electric bills... The temp in your room will not elevate nearly as much with T5s and the fact that you can get a dimmible setup..... Well that's simply awesome... I'm assuming that you're referring to the sfigoli attached to your Profilux? If you're running an ULNS, which I'm sure you are, then you won't have to worry about too much of a color shift in your corals. In some instances they may get more vibrant.. The best part about T5s to me , is that you can mix and match bulbs until you have the exact look you want. But, as you know, the shimmer will be gone.. Unless you retro some LEDs to give you that effect. For me, I won't be going back.

How did the CR issue work out?

Thank you Jonathan,
The system what ia m looking into is Starfire made by FM with profilux dimmable system. Two dim chanels, one have 4 bulbs and secons is 6 bulbs..As far as shimmer goes, they is a large LED.I have see this fixure in person and looks Ok to me:)
To be honest, i am not really concern about heat or electric bill. my main concern is coloration on my corals:)/// i know, i kniow:)))

situation with CR been resolved so far:)

I should have known by the price of the Fauna Marin that energy cost and heat was not an issue for you.
With the LEDs built in and dimmable ballasts, it sounds like a pretty complete solution.. Have you read any reviews on the fixture... I would reference that as to how it does with colors.. The silver-coated reflectors on my ATI PM are wicked... I'm sure the FM has something comparable or maybe even better. I can't grow deep purple coralline Alagae... More like super light purple... almost gray! So, you can get the Power out of T5s to give you some nice colors.. I know a couple of guys running them on the island that have really beautiful tanks running only T5s with ATI PMs.

Here is the other side.... if your're happy with your Radiums and heat/energy is not a concern... why switch at all?? Unless it's really about a cool new gadget.. Trust me, I would totally understand that! Let me know what you decide to do.. I would love to check that fixture out.

Glad to hear about the CR!

Thanks Snaza... The Korallin Fiji Purple bulbs really make pink corals color up nice.

i love how clean the background is... great job with the tank!

Thank you.. It's getting harder by the day to keep up with the coralline algae. I don't know that I will be able to win that fight at the rate it's growing
