Reusing RO/DI Waste Water ?

has any one ever tried to run the waste water back through the ro/di to purify it for use or is it to concentrated ? i know if this is done it would obviously exhaust the membrane and pre-filters faster due to the higher concentrations of minerals in the water. the question is would you spend more money on wasting water down the drain or more money buying new filters.

i have a problem with wasting that much water so i currently direct the waste water to my garden.

I think the best thing to do would be to use the waste water in a garden like you do. Most RODI units require a certain amount of pressure, and i'm not sure how you would go about providing that pressure.

using a pump to return the water to the ro/di would give it pressure. i agree the garden is probably the best bet and the other method would most likely be a hassle at best.

I live in the country and am still a month or so away from recieving city water. I have to go and haul two loads of 5,000 gallons for a water storage tank in the basement to be used for the showers and toliets, etc every few weeks to keep it full. I hooked up my RODI to the storage tank and run the waste water line back into the tank. I still recieve 0 or 1 TDS out of my RODI unit. But the 25-30 gallons that I drop back into the storage tank each week is really just a drop in the bucket.
