Reverse Lens Macros

I snapped these photos using my Canon T3i with a 50mm Prime Lens, reversed. This method yields some decent macro shots.

I use this method to shoot insect macros ... but when I shoot insects, I put the 50mm Prime Lens on a set of cheap extension tubes and use a flash (even in daylight).

The reason you need the flash with extension tubes is as you move the lens away from the camera, you decrease the amount of light reaching the camera's sensor. You also lose DOF, so you normally have to go to a lower f stop, (higher number), to keep an object in focus.
