Ribbon Eel???

Oh I see the picture now. I don't know about the egg rate though depending on how big the holes are the eel may be able to pass through. You could maybe attach some of the screen material you have for the cover to eggcrate. That way the eel can't go through the eggcrate.

Great idea thanks.

I recommend building a pvc complex for the eel. Will provide them security and lessen the likelyhood of escape attempts. My pair never left the pipe other than to swim to a different opening. PVC also made spot feeding much easier although tank mates could make feeding a pita.

PVC system formed an "H" shape, can see another opening in this vid--

Very cool!

how big were your eels and how long did you make the pvc home for them? Should one be capped?

Just curious, how big is your tank in the videos? do you think my 120 is big enough for a ribbon?

The darker blue one was close to 4', the lighter one was about 2.5'. They were in a 90. I think they should do fine in the 120. Mine never left the pipe to explore the tank other than when they were first introduced

This is the PVC I made for my dragon moray. The ribbons pvc was pretty much exactly the same except made of 1" pipe. Pipe was hidden by rock.

That pipe is hidden in this rockwork--

Are those hole in the pvc pipes. If they are is there a reason you have the holes. I'm asking because I'm thinking about getting an eel with pvc pipe. Also is a 1 inch pipe wide enough.

I drilled holes in to allow more water flow in the pipe and allow waste to escape. Also drill a large hole, an inch or so, on the bottom of the pipe so hermits can get out- they can't climb out of the pipe.

2 easily shared the 1" pipe

Great work with that pvc piping. I don't think I could get away with anything quite like that atm due to my already glued/cemented aquascape but definitely some good inspiration and it gives me something to think about.

Ordered my fish trap today which comes on Thursday. Will get the QT tank prepared and once that's done will start trying to catch some fish.
