is there a certain level in the tank that i should place my ricordea? i have them at them at the bottom right now and they seem to be doing good. just wondering if they will be good there longterm.

Depends on your lighting. If it is compact flouescent or t-5, then they will be fine anywhere. But if you have metal halides, then the bottom is pretty much the only option.

i have compact fluorescents. just wanted to make sure they will get enough light at the bottom of my 24 gallon cube

If its yuma, lower in the tank. If its florida, higher in the tank. I have the same tank as you and my floridas are about 2 inches from the surface and they love it.

i have yuma at the top of the tank and florida at the bottom. LOL! The florida could just as easily be at the top but its a rogue polyp from my parent colony in another tank. :) All are under a 70 watt hqi metal halide 14k, I don't think that it matters so much with the light unless you have a 400 or a 1000 watt light inches away from the top... just watch the flow, too much is too much... I had to move all of mine in one tank to the bottom or into caves spaces to break up thier flow because they are sitting in an sps tank... The others are happy as can be with minimal flow and strong light in a different pico lps/softie tank.

yeah the flow is more important than lighting, ric's are hardy little beast and can acclimate to a wide range of lighting, but they wont inflate fully or do well in hi currents
