rigleautomotive's Tank Pics Thread

Hi Dan,
May I ask what lens you use to take that full tank shot? I use a Nikkor 105mm micro f2.8 for macro shots but have no clue what to use to take a picture of an 8 ft tank. I appreciate it.

Wow that is impressive that you can keep up your demand with Kalk and evaporation. I have a Kalk stirrer that goes off with topoff 5 minutes every hour and need a steady stream from CARX to keep me at 7.5. How long have you been running this way.

I have had some success using a large 40gal kalk reservoir similar to your setup as I understand it. I had a horrible time with a kalk reactor previously. My question for you. How do you avoid any swings when refilling and mixing a new batch of limewater? I take my ATO offline for 12hrs or so after mixing to let the limewater settle. But I'm afraid I'm having a small swing in Alk and PH when doing so. Any advice?

Best scenario would be two vessels and a controlled amount of lime used at each mix.Two hours shall be enough time to settle if not using excess lime.

When one nears the empty line the other is put on line. The empty vessel is now prepared for the next use a day in advance.Frequent testing of alk accurately with a colormeter or quality titration test done correctly will direct you to any fine tuning required

No but I have before I had to sacrafice the vessel for a fresh holding tank for a system.I am in tune enough with my system well enough to remove the drip for 2 hours and add a bit of Na2CO3 and CaCl if the measured Alk of the system is on the low side before I stop the drip.I test prior to stopping the drip and dose accordingly.I try not to recommend this as it requires being in touch with your daily demands but it can be done with out any alk drift if done carefully. Two vessels are the best option as you lessen the chance for failure.
