Rimless Aquarium Club

Coseal and SKH,
Thanks for compliments, I appreciate it!!! Unfortunately I didnt take alot of pictures while making the stand. I will take pictures of my complete set up shortly. The whole stand is made of plywood finished with plastic laminate. This time around I was aiming to make a reef journal versus a build thread from scratch. I will get things going as soon as I figure out how to take better close up pics with this point and shoot camera I have. Thanks again.

I am having a 96L x 20w x 18H being made as I write this.

The tank is rimless and the glass is 1/2" thick. No euro bracing at all.

What do you guys think?

I just found this thread. Wanted to post some pics of my Zeroedge (hope that qualifies as a rimless.

It sounds like its going to be an awesome time aquascaping.

Not even a lower brace around the bottom edge on the inside?

Thanks - no the builder of the tank said it wasn't necessary?

I just wanted to get everyone's thought on this to avoid a tank break once it is filled. I really trust this builder but a few people have questioned the the glass size so I thought I should ask?

Wow, will you have some center bracing at least? Being 96L I would think you'd need at least one center bracing to avoiding bowing or stress at the center of the tank.

Looks great. what are the tank's dimensions, and what MaxSpect unit are you using?

I shut off the main pump every couple days and then just clean the outside with a soft pad. Takes maybe five minutes. I clean the inside daily with a soft pad. As long as I stay on top of it, it only takes a few minutes a day.
That's awesome. How much do you clean your glass? And how do you get the outside so clean

It goes over the edge into a gutter which surrounds the tank and then down into the sump.

Here's some pics of the gutter and the flow over. Have to watch out for runaway snails though. :strange:
Not that very nice! Looks like you have your water level right to the top?

I love the rimless tanks. You must have to have that zero edge spot on level. Was it difficult to get an even flow over all of the sides?

I had my own stand built with leveling feet. Took about 15 minutes to get it spot on.

I think a big part of the reason these tanks have a bad rep is that the manufacturer does a very poor job of giving advice on how to set up and maintain them. THey are great tanks and not any more time consuming than any other comparable sized tank once you have them set up right. But it took me about a year to solve all the problems I had with it and the company wasn't much help.
