Hello all. New to the group. Haven't had a setup for quite some time and looking to get back into the hobby and I found this rimless thing. They look amazing. Can anyone suggest a good rimless aquarium manufacturer for about a 150g aquarium? What are some feelings towards Glasscages? Can't find many others that build rimless this size. Thanks in advance.

Is that one of those CeramEco Bonsai rocks? I saw them at MACNA in Orlando and liked them lot.

Yes it is . U have to soak it for a bit . It does leach silicates . :furious:

I have to clean it quite often .

Sick set up!!!! Show more picks of it after cycle.

Thanks
Still working on it . Sump area . Stand will be skinned .Going through the algae cycle now ..

I stuck my leds in the overflow box . Not sure if I will need it . The t5's kinda drown out the shimmer . The lights have been upgraded to 60 degree optics .

My research revealed the following:
Glasscages -cheap price, intermittent poor quality, intermittent poor customer service.
Miracles- reasonable price, excellent quality, great customer service.
Coast to coast- very expensive, above excellent quality, great customer service.

I've been getting quotes from various builders and I agree with the above. I'd like to add.

AGE - extremely fast responses and service, reasonable priced if you want to go big.
Cadlights - I had them contact me sort of promptly in regards for a tank order. Prices are pretty good if you want a rimless with starphire glass.

In the end I went with a Cadlights 100g Artisan mostly because my quotes from custom tanks that were about the same as the cadlights were around the $1,200-$1,800 and the cadlights being just $600, I went with that one for now until I buy a house and then I'll go with a $2k+ tank.

@jt48 and LinkinReef, thank you both. How is customer service with Cadlights?

What are your, or anyone else's thoughts on the Zeroedge Get an Edge, or Elos? Elos seems to be ultra high quality and high price, anyone deal with their customer service? How are their lighting products compared to others? Thanks.

Can someone tell me how they keep the top 1" of their glass clean. I just set up a Cadlights 100 rimless and I am wondering how I keep the top 1" clean. It always seems to have water marks on it. Any special tips.

thanks
epleeds How do you like your Cadlights 100g Artisan? Did you get the stand with it? About to pull the trigger on one myself. Any chance you could post or PM me with FTS. Thanks! Jeff

Elos - Nice tank but only worth the price if you want an all in one w/ a sump approach and are starting from square one in the hobby. If you have an investment in some good equipment or plan to have a separate space you can dedicate to equipment, I would probably go another route as the value isn't there unless u get a good deal on a used set-up. They don't sell their tanks separately from the stand, sump, etc. - it's a package deal usually.

I will be starting from square one.

If you are starting from square one, I would say give Jesse with Elos USA a call. It is worth having the conversation. I am not an Elos owner but think they do a nice job bringing a quality product to the market and have high level customer service for the industry. I don't own a single Elos product, but when I have called to inquire, Jesse has always taken the time to answer any questions I have and then some. If I was starting with nothing and wanted a smaller system (anything under 100 gallons IMHO) that I could manage and move relatively easily in the context of reef tanks, I think an Elos system would be a great way to get into the hobby. It may seem expensive up front, but to have a very nice complete system backed with quality customer service, you would be doing well to have and Elos as your first reef tank.

I cannot comment on their lighting because I have never owned it so maybe others that have can give you some feedback on their experiences.

@jmsalt1 Thank you for the information. I plan to get a tank somewhere between 100g-150g. I will be getting Vortech MP40's for wave action and want a very well built tank.

Tom,

Wish you luck with whatever you decide. Take your time and look for deals as well on a high end used system. You will see many complete systems of that size up for sale on RC at a fraction, and when I say fraction, I'm talking at less than 50 cents on the dollar for what people have put into them. Many people decide to sell complete systems when they move or downsize and are more than happy to get a buyer of the whole package rather than having to deal with the parting out and selling of individual components.

Regards,

Jeff
