ghetto fabulous ...

Hi guys, what would be a good manufacturer for a long and low rimless that isn't more than 14-16 inches front to back? I'm thinking of something with the look of the Mr. Aqua 12g long, but bigger, maybe 48" and 20-30g. Know of anything?

WOW!!! When I first saw this picture I thought, hey that's my tank. I have a 20" x 20" x 18" cube made by ReefSavvy with black silicone and 1/2" starfire glass and I have a MaxSpect G2-160w. It looks eerily similar to yours although yours looks a little bigger. Is yours 24"?

Thats a lot of light... How many gallons is that?

110g (48x30x18) and 50g sump.

I know I could have gotten away with two fixtures, but tank being 30" wide, I wanted to make sure I do not have any dark spots. 3 would have been pain to hang.

I'm going to post this on my own build but thought I may get some answers here also. What causes a fish to jump? It makes sense that they may if they are being spooked, especially at night. I have had my rimless since July and in the past 2 weeks four fish have jumped out; none prior to that. I just received my polypropylene mesh net and will be constructing that today.

I had 2 different types of fish jump out within 15 secs of each other. Turns out one of my juvenile clowns matured and became territorial. I also have another older clown in my 2nd tank which likes to end up in the overflow. I can not figure out why since she is the agressor usually. All tanks are covered now with glass or starcrate.

I have had one fish jump but even if more jump I am not putting anything over the tank as it would make the tank look horrible and defeat the point of a rimless tank.

What type of fish were they? Seems like too many to quick. Given your water params are ok, maybe you have some stray voltage in your tank.

My cover will be easily removeable so I can take it off when viewing tank. I agree any cover will ruin the aesthetics of a rimless but if all ur fish jump out, would u not reconsider?

The fish that have jumped include blue throat triggerfish, bartletts anthias, diamond goby, royal gramma and possibly a occelaris clown-which disappeared and never found so he may have jumped and cat got it or died under rock. Good point with electricity thanks. I will check into that.

I would try to find the problem instead of looking to cover it up (Pun intended). If you have a bunch of fish jumping out there is a reason for it. Fish incompatibility, stray voltage etc.
