Rimless Coast to Coast SPS Build!

Hi Jason,
Very nice tank. I cannot wait to see it set up. Are you moving away from Cincy? By the way I bought your Giesmann fixture from you. It is lighting up my Elos currently. I love this light, Dan.

Oh yeah, cool, glad to hear it! No, we're staying right here in the heart of downtown...we're just moving into a larger place, a very old house actually that we're going to be renovating. Its not far from where we live now actually, probably less than a mile.

You just couldnt stay away could you?

Awesome looking tank, cant wait to see pics of the house. The wife and I stayed in downtown Cincinnati Friday night before the Dayton swap, and I drove her around for like 4hrs looking at all the old architecture, we really love the character it has. Cincinnati was really the place back in its day.

Yep, couldn't stay away forever...This time I'm going a bit smaller to keep things a little more manageable. Plus, its going in the basement this time so I don't have to worry about making messes (which I was very prone to do).
Agreed, its amazing down here. We're big fans of old houses and architecture.

Jason, did Chris and Pat inform you of the Homasote material they recommend for under the tank? I didn't see it in the picture, unless it's compressed.

If not...here's the information:

It's sold at Home Depot in the insulation aisle. It's predominately used for sound dampening, but has a spongy texture to it. You just have to make sure that you countersink your screws very well as it will compress when the tank is filled. It would suck to crack the bottom panel on one of their works of art. I like it so much better than foam, which would have torn to shreds as me and some friends slid my 350 pound monster onto its' stand.

Can't wait to see some progress pics.

Alex: Thanks, no they didn't mention that when I picked it up, but I knew I needed something. I was actually going to probably use foam, but if they recommend homasote I'll look for that! I haven't put anything under the tank yet because I won't be filling it until after we move, so right now its just resting on top of the stand by itself. Thanks!

Hey Jason, remember this one:

Oh man!! Ha ha! Yes, I definitely can't forget that tank, my first large tank and the one that got me hooked!
Sorry, I don't get on here very often anymore so it took me this long to reply. I am getting ready to start this tank up soon. Its taken us over a year to get our "new" house in working order and livable condition. One of my first priorities once we're moved in is to get this tank running. Its been sitting at my parents house quietly waiting for water for well over a year now:(

I haven't forgotten about it though, I actually can't wait to get started:bounce3:

Will post updates as soon as I have them (should be in the next couple of months)
