i just thought i would share a couple new additions to the 220g mixed reef... a gig and red foot riterri :) this riterri is now officially my favorite nem! awesome to behold in person...

they have been in the dt for several weeks, have never deflated, and are doing great, imo... :)

--- on a side note, i picked up another riterri that looks just like this one. within hours it was deflating. i'm putting it through treatment, and will see if it pulls through...





 
Be cautious just adding new nems to your display, it can easily transfer bacterial infection to your existing nems.
Magnifica is the scientific and more appropriate ID as opposed to Ritteri, not sure why ritteri seems to be popping up again as the ID of this species so much lately.
Nice colors on those nems!
 
Davocean, i did not "just add" any anemones to my display. I am well aware of the possibility of bacteria being spread. I actually have a room with several qt's... riterri is a common term used for the anemone. It is not anything that has has just come about. It might be a slang term, but it still is a commonly used term...

pfan 151, I have never ordered an anemone online. I pick all mine up locally....

Worm 5406, tank has been up and running for almost a year. I had an ich outbreak, so it is currently fishless. The fish are in qt. I have a second riterri in this dt. The other one got into a powerhead, but is healing up. It looks better weekly.

Tank... 220g dt, ro dc skimmer, 3x hydra 52's, 75g sump w/ fuge, mp 40, gyre, apex, and ect...

Monitored the riterri for a week before adding it. Never treated. Same thing with the gig. They have both been in the dt for several weeks and have never deflated. I currently have several other nems in qt including another riterri and a gig. Both seem to be responding well to treatment.

I have had numerous nems, in the last handful of years. Some thrived, and some did not make it. I am still learning and refining my techniques for both keeping / treating along with acquisition...
 
Just pointing out the possibility of infection transfer since that was not made clear in first post as a warning to you and anyone that may be reading.
I mention mag as the more correct ID as this also confuses things on posts to other readers, or we now have to type ritteri/mag lately to clarify or cover both names being used as of late.
That tank appears very fresh still, perhaps the result of fallow period from the ich.
 
riterri #2 and gig #2 seem to be responding well to treatment :) i think i know why they might have deflated initially... i initially used tank water from the newer rimless tank for them. i tested, and it had nitrates present. i used water from my 220g for the qt, and they seem to like that better... maybe it's the roxin as well... i'm not sure, but the gig looks very good, and the riterri looks promising, imo. i'll give them a week or 2, and see how they do...

the gig has a nice green'ish color to it. i am excited to see what it looks like in about 6 months.

the riterri looks just like the other one, which is fine by me....



 
Wow, that Ritteri is stunning! Looks exactly like the one in Finding Nemo haha. I've always had my heart set on finding one exactly like that when I get my first nem; I'm so glad to know now that almost-cartoon Ritteris actually exist!
 
^^^ I agree.... it is stunning. I always wanted one like it. I hadn't seen one like that locally in 4 yrs, and then 2 pop up within a month. Lol I grabbed them both :)

Honestly, your best chance is to find a local shop and ask them to get one in. Problem there is, if they get it and you don't want it. Then you kind of burn a bridge by sticking them with it.... I've bought several that were not nearly as nice, just to keep my word...

Most of the local shops get their livestock from the same suppliers... it's just a matter of getting one to bring one in for you.

I travel all around the state for my job. I just happen to swing in and visit 5-6 shops a week. If you are in Melbourne, try mad reefer west. In St. Cloud, try reefers direct. In longwood, try oceans direct. Just find a shop that you like by you, and work with them....
 
thought i would provide an update... the first riterri pictured is doing well. here is a pic from yesterday :)

the second red foot did not make it :( treating seemed to do no good...

the gig is fine. it is a little light sensitive, but stays inflated. i just have it shaded, and slowly bringing up the par on it...
