Ritori ... HELP!!!!

it has shrunk down to half the size it was this morning.... tentacles are flat... mantle is wrinkled and colorless... may have to pull it before it pollutes the tank any more...

It did great for three weeks... then in 4 days gone...

Well, keep a close eye on it. If it appears to be dissolving, you want to get it out of the tank. Sometimes they will deflate as part of the acclimation process, but it's hard to say if that's what is going on. Could you post a few pics?

pic last evening approx 4:30.

I took out super actinic bulb and blue+ , added back two 10K to get the light brighter. I was looking at some pics of my previous 120 which had a beautiful retteri and was noticing that my lighting may still the problem, perhaps going the wrong direction with the adjustments.

SG is now at 1.0245 - 1.025 depending on the evaporation level.
Retteri looked better again with lights out, lights on this am it reacted to them coming on... I am hopeful that itw will turn upwards so the light can be of benefit.

Magnifica's tend to do poorly in tanks that don't have halide lighting, but it seems like this one is just having a hard time adjusting to captivity. Hopefully it pulls through for you.

dd, I'm glad it's still hanging on. I can't tell much from the pic, but it doesn't look like it's quite ready to be removed yet. It's touch and go, I know. I wish you the very best. Keep us posted.

I've had just as good of luck with PC and T-5's myself with my ritteries, but some mags seem to prefer MH.

A moment of silence...

A moment of silence...

Saturday AM found the remains of a retteri on the sand in the far right corner of the tank a mere ball, very few tenticles. gave it 4 hours to act like there was some life in him, at noon pulled it out to avoid water contamination... cannot imagine how it went from three weeks of doing well, to 5 days gone... the two Alardi's are a bit displaced now, hosting in a plate coral part time and behind a bubble the other... will have to get them a proper home, yet not a retteri...

Thank you Gary for all of your time in helping me try and save this creature...

I'm sorry to hear that. They (magnificas) really don't have a good track record for collection and transport. If you're lucky enough to get a healthy one from the beginning, once they settle in, they are quite hardy. You might want to try a BTA. Your clowns would likely take to it and their survival rate in aquariums is much better than magnifica.
