Ritteri anemone odd behaviour

Hi all,

Last night I removed the Anemone off the top center of the glass and placed it on a rock. Typically he stays close to the light but for some reason he is climbing down away from the light towards the sand. The base is looks more inflated than normal. Any ideas?

How long have you had the anemone? Any changes in lighting, flow, or temperature? Any chance that one of the tank mates is bothering it? Was it out growing its previous spot?

I have had it for about 2 years. I have build a temporary cage using eggcrate within the tank to prevent him from killing other corals. His feet are still very inflated. My guess is I may have accidentally cut his foot somewhere and it is trying to recover. I will take it out of the cage when the feet has become deflated.

water parameters are fine. I do have a SPS, LPS, and softies that are all doing very well. all polyps are out and extended.

I really do think that an inflated base has something to do with the stress and reason why it is moving down.

I think I will wait it out to see if it will deflate in a day or 2. If and when he starts to deflate and sticking onto the rock tightly then I will let him out of the cage.
