Ritteri questions

I brought home a Ritteri Anemone Sunday, most of yesterday it wasn't looking very healthy(open mouth, wasn't expanding) this morning the mouth was completely closed and looked just as good if not better as it was in the lfs. It did move over night about 3 inches higher on the rock that it was placed on, will it cruise anymore? I gave it a small piece of shrimp and it ate this a.m., do I no longer need to be concerned with the stress provided I keep the water parameters in check? Also would you feed it daily or every few days, weekly, it's about the size of my fist.

thanks

There is a lot of info here especially if you search with the word Magnifica.

They are pretty tough critters and most of them either die within a week or at about the 6 month mark. You really don't know if it is going to make it until then. It will most likely go as close to the light as it can get, so building a pinnacle of rock to perch on right under the MH should keep it in one place, otherwise it is likely to climb up the glass to the surface.

I have found that keeping the actinics off and running lights that are less blue also helps keeping them from moving.

I feed every few days, but they grow really really fast when they are healthy. Expect an inch of diameter a month. Mine can expand to almost 20 inches after 6 months in my tank. it started out at about 10-12".

The more flow it is in the longer the tentacles will get.

Best of luck with it. Let us know how it does (And poist pictures :) )
