Have you guys seen the center of Newsday today? As part of the Riverhead improvements, it shows a possible Atlantis Expandion.

seems like everytime i go there they've expanded.

Hey,
Yup new exhibits each year since we opened and have essentially doubled in size since June 2000.
Never stop dreamin'!

Joe will you have any jobs available for any of the new exhibits over the summer? I've been practicing the breeding of poison dart frogs, ball pythons, orchids, among others with my reefkeeping hobby. Just figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

None of the expansions this year justify new staff, but we will have our seasonal positions of in house naturalists that work the snorkel tank (Shark Reef Lagoon) and our Marsh walk through touch tanks and those run from late June-August. Typical summer job payscale of $8/hr, so we usually end up with high school and college students, but if you or anyone else is interested be sure to drop me a line for the details.

Hey, I just thought I'd chime in here, since I was just out at AMW about a month ago for the first time, and was very impressed.

Of course, the reef tank and the anemone/clownfish tank were my favorite, but theres lots of other cool stuff there too. The shark tank, the lobster/crab/shrimp tanks, and the freshwater tanks are cool - I really liked the african cichlid tank - haven't seen anything like that at a public aquarium before.

Oh yeah, and the lagoon with the bridge over it when you walk in - it has striped bass, weakfish, and fluke in it, I thought that was awesome too.

But...the reef tank is the best - its just unbelievable. If you haven't gone, go and check it out.

Hopefully Joe sees this - great job man, and to anyone else who hasn't been - what are you waiting for? Get out there and check it out.
