RKE or Refilux Controller?

This is probably a loaded question as everyone seems to have strong feelings for the controller they own. It's really hard to get your hands around the cost difference between the two for what you want to do. I like the RKE because its made in the USA and support should be better on the other hand Refilux seems like a more polished unit with all needed options available. Any thoughts?

The Profilux can certainly do a lot more than the RKE, but it is more expensive. It all depends upon what you want vs. what you're willing to spend.

I have been thinking of upgrading from my RK2. The profilux looks nice but I can't justify the price. They seem awful stingy with the number of outlets you get. In the long run it may be a bit more expandable, but for the price I just don't see much "bang for the buck".

I vote RKE all the way. The system is rock solid and as more modules come out people will really start to see the difference. Give Digital Aquatics the same amount of time with the RKE that the Aquacontroller and the Profilux controller have had and I think there will be no comparison. The RKE has way more potential. DA is putting together modules and software as fast as they can. None of the controllers directly compare to each other, so it is hard to do a side by side.

RKE here as well. I have been immensely happy with the RKE since I installed it back in May. It controls my entire system. What has been even more impressive is DA's interaction with the user community to develop the subsequent modules and firmware updates. You get the sense that we're all developing this together and the result is a system that just keeps getting better.

With the current state of our economy I'm leaning toward RKE. Living in Michigan I'm a big believer in Buy American. So I should practice what I preach. Besides the only feature I wanted from Profilux that the RKE does not have is Tunze control and Tunze is coming out with new 7096 controller for $170.00 in march.

What are you looking to control with it? I own a profilux and yes it a great controllor, might be the best out there. But for my application it more than I need.

I know others that own RKE's and they look great too. I would consider what you want to do with it and research your options. Profilux can do a ton of stuff and is well built, but cost is high. Might be more than you need.

I was waiting for the RKE to finish working out the bugs before I bought it, then learned about the Profilux. People who own it rave about it. Been around for a while with good performance, they are actively involved with the aquarium community, and have forward and backward compatability. I was very impressed, and became sold when I learned that if you order from Canada you can get the Beginner kit for around $500 (same as RKE). It is currently in transit. I'll let you know how it goes.

One the thing about the RKE, is that they have GREAT Customer Service. If you have question and go on their website's forum, you'll usually get an answer by Digital Aquatics or another RKE owner.

I don't own a Proflux so I can't comment on their CS
