Where am I?

So tomorrows the day that my RKE will arrive, I have read it is sometimes a PIA to install everything. For you folks that have set this up, how hard is it? I bought the system that come with the free moon lights, and I am very tech savy.

It is not that hard to set it up at all. I had 2 pc4s an SL1 and net and it all took me about 2 hours. It's fairly straight forward once you download all of the updates you will need!

Ha! I get mine tomorrow as well!

On another related note, I have not been able to determine if the outlets (PC4) are surge protected. Does anyone know?

^ Thats actually a good question.

With everything that needs to be done, I guess I will hold off setting it up till this weekend.

I just got the RKE with sl1 & 2 pc-4 and temp & ph and float switch...

I unpacked installed and setup everything in about 2 hrs. Only thing I haven't done yet was calibrate the pH probe. I setup light schedules and ATO. I didn't mess with any alarms yet or feed cycles as I really don't every use them.

It was rather easy in general. You will fumble around for the first 15-30 minutes familiarizing with everything, and then it will be a breeze.

no surge protection.

be careful with SL1, the ports arent Isolated, try turning on and off lights and watch the PH reading :) its good for just being there, but I wouldnt run a co2 reactor based on its readings.

Are you saying that the reef keeper ph readings are too inaccurate to run a calcium reactor? Thats 90% of what I was planning on getting a reef keeper for

the SL2 is much, much much much [much] better.

SL1 ports are not Isolated at all, any sort of electromagnetic field can change its readings, from your toaster to ure wave maker.

sorry, I know they are a let down.

So I recieved mine, and it was confusing as hell a first. Tomorrow I will hook it up and name it all. Then the following day switch over all equipment. What is the long red and black wire for?

If it has two connectors (one on each end) then it is the switch adapter. Cut it in half and use each half to connect a float switch to the SW1 ports (for an ATO)
