RO/DI top off float valve question

I am getting my reef system together and kind of got stuck on one thing.

I setup a new RO/DI 200GPD in my garage and it is working great. I plan on running a line thru the attic to where the new aquarium will be located. This should not only make water changes easier but mainly for RO top offs.

I bought a RO float valve kit and was testing it today but without using the shutoff valve it continues to drip even when it's full. Reading back the shutoff valve stops that but also stops the RO unit from functioning.

I want to use the RO unit for things other than just that one small RO top off tank.

Has anyone used the shutoff valve in another location like in my case from the clean blue line output from the garage to the float valve and had success? I think it should work if connected right but have not found the answer on Google.

You just run branches of the outlet (blue) to where you want the water to go. If any of them calls for water with a pressure drop the ASOV opens and lets water from the filter through. When all the outlets are shut the pressure rises and closes the ASOV again.

I looked back and found some you tube videos that explained how the auto shutoff valve works. (17 years old). It looks like as long as I install it before any of the blue line outputs I will be OK.

I can do the initial fill up of the 160G system and the RO top off tank where the aquarium is located but also prepare future salt water replacements in the garage where I have more room to work.

OK this is funny. Tomorrow my contractor will be here to run the RO line to the aquarium location and also a 20a GFCI circuit for the aquarium to keep it isolated. I shut off the water to the house so I could install a shutoff valve before the water runs into the RO system as well as the ASOV.

The shutoff valve was easy but when I popped the top filters off the Ispring RO unit there is already a ASOV valve there. It is tapped between the red line from the filters to the RO and the yellow line to the other external filters.

I stopped at that point to search if I need to add this as a second one. I was not expecting that. At least I wont have to shut down the house if I need to do it again.

I hurt my back a week ago so I will let the contractor climb around the attic. I want this tank to get started ASAP so I will pass the baton to him.
