I got my power/waterbill in today and my sewer bill was 90 bucks. Jea told me they charge 4.15 per gallon of water used for a sewer charge. Now everygallon I make of rodi water cost 4 bucks plus the water bill 79 cents or close to that per gallon. RODI is expensive. I can get an irrigation meter but they want 750 for that. Anyone else have a high sewer charge through JEA? I mean my whole house power bill including the 2000 something watts I use for 2 fishtanks alone and my coke machine is only 160 bucks. This is not fair that they do not meter the sewer and charge a flat rate per gallon.

The city does not meter sewer, thats whats messed up about it. Itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s a flat rate of 4.15 per gallon of water that comes out of your faucet. 4.15 doesnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t sound right maybe I miss heard the operator at jea but still to pay flat rates, un-metered for each gallon of water used regardless if it goes down a drain or not is insane! Even if I run the hose on my grass I/we still pay un-metered/estimated sewer charges. It gets worse, If you have to use city water for irrigation they suggest you buy a $750 irrigation meter that they can only install and water that comes out of that meter isnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t charged for sewer. What is your sewer bill? If you are a jea customer itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s the second page on your bill and it broken down 3 ways- electric, sewer, water For example last bill was 19.bucks and change for water and 54. bucks and change for sewer, todayââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s bill was 29.30 for water service and 90.44 for sewer service

Since I posted I checked all outdoor faucets, showerheads, and toilets for drips. One toilet was running slowly which might explain part of the cost. But still....ahhhh

Rob you are right that makes more sence.

John please tell me so I dont feel so bad.

Nikonosis I have a well but the pump blew out, Im not sure I could run my ro/di off of it either. Won't that wipe my filters out faster?

You got to hire waste management for that. Speaking of out houses I was on the jobsite yesterday and came very close to bumping one over w/ my truck while turning on a cul-de-sac. Man that would of sucked for those framers.

Pmagic you don't even want to know. My last bill was $1500.00
hmm thats $0.31/gallon.

plus the 79 cents per gallon of water. O well it beats filling up carboys and buckets at publix. I need to fix the well pump.

John you can put a well at your house and fill up your maintenance vans water container. I don't trust the ground water, You never know. But it seems to be working for nikoinosis

It can not be as much as you think. We make a lot of water over here and I am 3 streets over. We do not have a 1000 dollar bill and I am sure we are avg. 500 gal / month.

thats what I was going to say, my well water smells when I water

i have a softener on mine. my water has alot of iron in it but the softener makes the water pretty good before it goes through the rodi. Ive read alot about it on rc and there is a ton of people that do what i do with great results.
