Just wondering if anyone in the rochester area knew where i could get RO/DI water besides Caribbean Forest? they or over priced at .75 cents a gallon and cost me almost 20 bucks to do my water changes and top offs. If you dont know is there a fellow reefer that will give me some or have me purchase it for a lower prices?

Thanks in advance!

Jacob

FYI ABC Pet City in Fairport sells theirs for approx. $2 for 5g bucket..works out to around .30/g

its a drive for me out there. I live in greece/ hilton area so the savings in the water doesnt save me the gas :(

Ok...fyi again...you haven't chosen the cheapest hobby in the world ;) The holidays are coming...you should def consider treating yourself to an RO/DI unit! Good luck!

yeah i know i havent... i have been keeping a reef for 4 years and im just starting to get into sps and know i should use RO/DI water in my tank but never really wanted to waste my time going to get it. I also asked for one for Christmas :)

got a portable 4 stage from ebay that does about 4 gallons an hour. it was only 60 bucks shipped. Makes perfect water. Worth the money and i dont care if it was made in china.

Check out Bulk Reef Supply and get the 75gpd economy unit, $129 hooks up to the sink easy, will save money in the long run.

JMO: any serious reefkeeper MUST be able to produce their own RO water.

Purchasing purified water from another source is insane (yes- INSANE) for many reasons, among them:

*cost
*PITA to transport
*availability (what if you have an emergency?)
etc. etc. etc.

a 50 GPD basic unit is fine. Add DI later if you desire.

One gallon of tap into my aquarium will produce noticeable hair algae growth- and Rochester has some of the finest tapwater in the good 'ol USA.

Stupid lake Ontario, Gary ive been to the water treatment plants in durran and kodaks on lake rd. Both have blown my mind and they do, do alot to treat the water but not enough for our tanks :( thank you everyone for the info and im just hesitating to get a unit because i want one thats going to give me the best results with out breaking the bank and one i can upgrade later down the road.

don't beat yourself up over getting the "best" .they all basically hold filters that need to be replaced. it's pretty hard to find a bad unit. the hobby is based on water, find a way to make and test it.

I just take it from my lab tap, :evil laugh:

I just bought one from Bulk Reef Supply. I think it's worth it in the long run. if you're paying $20 each time you go, it'll pay for itself in like 5 water changes!
