Im setting up an 90g DT with 30 g sump. I need to get an ro/di system to make top off water (saltwater I'll buy from lfs). May i have some suggestions for a system with good supply/easy to find replacement membranes? I plan to get a lange storage container and intall a shot off floating valve to keep the container full. I live in AZ so we will a lot of evaporation over the summer. TY

I read this device is monitored by Apex. Is it wireless? It is really useful but it won't be next to the tank so wireless is the only way to go. I plan to install the rodi and holding tank in the laundry room. What is a good rodi system with goo supply of membranes?

It comes in stand alone or controller version. I would imagine it could be hooked up to any controller with switch inputs. In your case stand alone would be OK. It will refill the storage container once it gets low then cut off when full. There are several sponsors here that sell RODI units.

Just get a normal float valve kit. When the container is about empty, turn on the ro unit and turn it off once it is full. If that is too much trouble, then spend the $200 on the kit above.
Most of the RO units you see for sale are the same size, 10in. You can use any filter brand you want. Just make sure you are getting 1 micron are smaller.
Also, why buy your saltwater from lfs. Maybe yours are better but several in my area have been found to sell high tds water. They tend to not check their RO systems and they go thru a lot of water.

All good and all use industry standard (2.5" x 10") filters/ standardized RO membranes...
There are slight differences in accessories/pore size,etc... but any of the above are great.
and yes when you have your own RO/DI it makes little sense to still purchase saltwater from your LFS..

Depends on his tap water tds. It seems everyone I see post from Arizona has a very high tds at the tap so a 99% rejection membrane would be best.
OP, that reminds me. Also a good idea to invest in a hand held tds meter when you buy your RO unit. Whoever you buy it from should sell them.

I wouldn't buy from them for 3 reasons..
#1-website sucks (very unprofessional/slow,etc...)
#2-horizontal DI stages suck...
#3-seem to be the cheapest (read lowest quality) products you can buy..

1. Granted, their consumer-facing site is sub-par, but they primarily sell on eBay.
2. Mine is mounted vertically.
3. I've made over 1k gallons in the last year, and still have 0 TDS.

I pretty much always recommend these membranes. 98% vs 99% while it sounds small will double your DI life. The cost difference is roughly what one DI cart costs so cost recovery is very quick but the real reason I recommend these almost all the time is that they have been tested by Spectrapure and perform as advertised. Filmtec 75gpd membranes which are optimal at 98% can be as low as 96% and there is no way to know what you are getting unless you get one that has been tested.
I'm sure it works fine for some people however I doubt that would be the case for someone living in Phoenix. Just saying you have made 1000gal means nothing, I make roughly 3000gal before seeing 1TDS. This is with 150TDS incoming, chloramines, and 200gpd production. Everyone's needs are different.
Spectrapure is based in AZ and is regarded as one of the best in the business, I see no reason not to go with them or any of the RC sponsors. Spectrapure and Buckeye are constantly helping reefers here regardless of who they purchased from.
