Ro/di ?

How high do you let your TDS get before you change out your filters? I have new filters ready to go, I just tested my TDS and I'm getting 5. Would you change them now or wait a bit?

Yes, as that means your DI resin is most likely expired, and is both passing some, and possibly leaching other compounds. If a new DI reads 5 after a bleedoff, your meter need servicing. I do not read in ppm and I don't let my water read more than .5 microsiemens., or roughly .25 ppm.

so the sediment and carbon doesn't need to be changed each time the TDS gets above 1 or 2? I have a 10 micron sediment, 5 micron carbon and then 1 micron carbon and then the DI. I've changed them all and make aprox. 60 gallons of water a month. My TDS is 155 coming out of the faucet.
Can anyone estimate how long these filters should last?

Change your pre and carbons every 6 months regardless of how much water you have made or how many DI replacements. Change your DI when you you see a steady reading above 3 to 5. I change mine at 3 but I buy bulk resin pretty cheap. Pre and carbons don't really make a difference in final water quality TDS. They are there to trap suspended solids, particles and chlorine. The membrane removes most dissolved solids and the DI gets the rest.

I can get 3-5ppm with my r/o , albeit it is not your average r/o. I dont see d/i being useful if you let it run that high consistently, or at least AS useful as it's intent.
