RO membrane

Is there anything that only a ro membrane can remove?

I have a 5 stages filter.

carbon - polypropylene - resin - resin - resin

TDS showing 0, is it enough or a RO membrane can remove something more?

is the resin di? if so then di is more expensive than a ro membrane. most people us a ro membrane to do most of the work them resin to polish the water of what is left after the ro membrane

Yup, you get fine water like that, but you are going to wear that DI resin out fast. There's also the possibility of any uncharged organics making it through the carbon, but if you are reading 0TDS then that is likely not a problem at the moment. A lot of city water supplies have ppm levels of chloroform and other chlorinated non-charged organic molecule byproducts from using chlorine as a disinfectant. Your carbon block should catch most, but maybe not all.

RO membranes will remove some things that your system will not, but it is hard to say that they will be in your water in a way to cause a problem. Things like hydrophilic organics, possibly even some pesticides. Fine particulates. But in general, a system like yours is a pretty good bet to be fine.

The primary reason people use the RO part is to save big money on the DI resins, using them 10-50 times more slowly.

Well, I didn't say you needed one, just that without it some things can get through. But there is never a drawback to having one. :)

Good luck. :)
