RO membrane?

I may need a new RO membrane. Mine is around 2.5 years old. Should I order one? How hard are they to put in since my RO/DI unit is in somewhat of a cramped spot.

The Filter Guys only have 1 RO membrane rated at 75 gallons per day. I'd assume there is only one (that one) built for my unit then?

You really need a TDS meter to check the membrane. If you can, purchase a filmec memebrane. If you change to a different gpd than what you are currently using, you will also need to change or adjust the flow restricter.

Yes, it's very easy to change....I think the Filter Guys use the Filmtec Membranes.

Thanks. I sent my order in. It is a filmtec RO membrane. I don't know the TDS coming out of the RO itself but it's around 2.5 years old. Might as well change it out along with the other filters. Fresh will be nice.

How often are you changing your pre-filter and carbon block? Those both should be changed every 6 months.

The RO membrane and DI resin should be changed with the TDS starts to raise. For the RO membrane; whenever the TDS after the membrane only is above the rejection rate --- If you are using the Dow Flimtec 75 GPD, which has a 96-98% rejection rate and your incoming TDS is 100, change it when the TDS after the membrane gets above 6.

For the DI, whenever your "clean" water is over 0, but always test the TDS of the RO membrane at the same time, to make sure it is working properly. If it is past its prime too, will burn through the DI resin faster then needed.

I don't have an inline TDS meter. I could maybe unplug the one cable coming out and make it go into a bucket I suppose. Just with GHA whatever it is at I'm going to change all the filters anyway. I do change the others every 6 months and DI resin when it gets over 0.

Yos- the membranes are very easy to change. Just make certain that you push them all the way in so it is fully seated. Test the TDS of your RO water after you change it so you're sure its doing its job.

Not having an inline is fine, in fact I prefer the hand held.

It is fairly easy to unplug the tubing that comes into the DI. Just push in the "ring" (( very last part of the Guest fitting )), and the tube will slide out.

If that doesn't make sense, just let me know and I can take a picture.
