RO Unit - Membrane toast?

I have a maximus II by aquasafe. Its been working great for four months pumping out a ton of water but my pressure even with a pressure booster is only around 40 so a lot of water is wasted.

Its acting up. At the start it seemed like there was no waste water coming out but water was filling the RO bin. Pressure was at 30-40 here. Now the Pressure after playing with the flow restrictor is at 30ish and there is waste water. TDS of the RO bin water is 004.

So my big question is: After reading online - reduced waste water/zero waste water but RO bin filling means that the membrane is fouled. If this is the case would my TDS of the output water be 004?

Any suggestions? I have a sediment filter before the RO booster pump.

A few thoughts-

Have you given that ebay vendor an opportunity to support his product? Give him a call.

If your pressure with the pump on is only about 40 psi, something is wrong. Is your carbon block clogged badly? Pump might be bad. Where in the system is the pressure gauge plumbed in?

You have no waste water? Again, something is wrong.

Do you have a picture of web reference you can post so I can see the system you are talking about? That might be a good place to start.

Thanks. Here is a picture of the setup:

The PSI meter is reading 40 and there is waste water. Upon start up it took quite a while for waste water to show up though.

I think I'm most confused about the RO membrane. How do you tell when its garbage through fouling or use? I assumed TDS would be the only sign. I'm having difficulty finding this information with my google searches based on what I'm dealing with my unit.

Also I am on a well. I can get the pressure much higher than 40 but the problem is the waste water is well below 3waste:1RO when I do this. (I'm so confused). The waste water drops dramatically as the pressure goes up.

Not sure if its a setup issue or the unit or just the user (I'll admit this).

And if it helps - the water is from the water softener and plumbed directly into the pipe.
