RO waste water

If you've got the normal 4:1 waste to RO ratio, then you're only increasing the concentration of salts in your tap water by 20% in that waste water. You're also removing any particulates with the sediment filter and removing any chlorine with the carbon. So in reality, it's not that much more polluted, and what it is polluted with is mostly harmless to you or your dog.

And if you're like me and have pure Dasani pouring from the tap, I would be even less afraid to drink it. Our water starts out so good to begin with, adding 20% back into it is only bringing us up to the levels found in other people's "good" tap water.

The only thing that would scare me is bacteria. They can grow in the lines and make you quite sick. But as long as you keep the lines clean I can't see any harm in drinking it or giving it to the dog.

Rain Barrel

Rain Barrel

I put a rain barrel outside on my patio. The discharge from ro/di unit goes thru walland fills the rain barrel. i use it for watering all my plants and if i have too much water in barrel I will use it in my pool.

My dog drinks out of the toliet when he can... I don't think ro waste water is a problem... You guys take this too serious sometimes. If your tap, atleast in the US had chemicals that could hurt you or your dog we would have a lot of problems. I've drank, showered and swam in tap my entire life... I wouldn't have a problem doing it with ro waste water... Atleast all the sediment is taken out

Same thing i was thinking. I assume when people read "waste" they think not good at all.

Maybe the term "semi-filtered tap water" instead of "RO waste" would be better?

Isn't RO waste water... water that didn't make it through the RO filter? So technically it is not RO water?

Somebody help me understand.
