Give me some ideas on what to do with the RO wast water? I just feel like its really wast water meaning why should it go down the drain can I put it to use

I will use some of mine in the clothes washer, since my unit is located in the laundry room. Watering plants/lawn?

I fill the dog's water with it. And plant watering.

Isn't the idea that it filters out heavy metals and other nasty stuff?

Depending on what it's pulling out of your water, that doesn't really sound safe for plants or the dog.

Maybe a chemist can weigh in.

I don't see how it could be worse than the typical tap water. The tap water has everything in there. At least some of the bad stuff got bond up in the sediment , and carbon filters before moving to the RO filter. I would think even the RO effluent wold be cleaner than the tap water.

My thought was just that it is now in a more concentrated form.

Honestly until last week, I didn't even know you shouldn't drink water collected from rain barrels if you have an architectural roof, so I'm learning all the time.

2 most common uses i have heard are laundry and watering the yard. mine goes down the drain.

+1 I have a 32 gallon trash can, next to my washer and RO unit that collects waste water. When it fills the can I have a pump that I plug in to transport the water to the washer. With 3 kids I am always doing laundry so there is no need to waste water.

I actual have heard peopel state that there waste water was actual helping there house plants do better.

I was only making for top off but i am going to start making salt water too so I see it as a wast to let it do down the drain just wanted ideas of how to use it... The safe way

My dog drinks out of the toliet when he can... I don't think ro waste water is a problem... You guys take this too serious sometimes. If your tap, atleast in the US had chemicals that could hurt you or your dog we would have a lot of problems. I've drank, showered and swam in tap my entire life... I wouldn't have a problem doing it with ro waste water... Atleast all the sediment is taken out

I have heard that some people use it for their fresh water aquariums. Usually for their African cichlids tank as the water is usually hard.

This made me chuckle a lot! Very true though, ever since I hooked up my RO Unit, have a sterile 32 Gallon can and I'll use it for my coffee machine, water bottles to store in the fridge, dog water, cat water, and water for the flower bed. RO Waste is just ~80% filtered water. I couldn't agree more with this post.

Mine goes to the pond in the summer. Just overflows when it gets full, and i have sparkling clean water when I'm done making water.
