Rob's ten ton tank

Here's part of my greenhouse. All the filtration, refugiums etc. are location here:

And one of my Rics. They make me happy:

I should probably post the details of this in the propagation section.

Yes you should, now sell me some rics.

No. They're just starting to do well again. Would be a shame to break stride.

Since last update (the highlights):
I installed an 11.3 kW output heat pump
I've had some trouble with various Caulerpas going sexual
I've had some interesting problems with RBTA chemical warfare
I've started dosing sodium hydroxide to keep the pH up (I've maxed Ca, so I can't use kalk)
Have started introducing proper tropicals to the main tank now that the temp is stable

How is it going Rob, from your avitar it is starting to look nice and clear?

Yeah, it's looking great. Spring is almost here, so there's a lot more light going into the tank.

Here are some lousy phone pics. The heat pump:

The tank after I snowstormed it (too much lime):

The loaner skimmer until I build my own:

As soon as I get back from California I'm going to put in my prop pumps and put in some hard corals. The water quality is pretty good right now, and the Acros, Montis, clams etc. in the same water in the greenhouse are doing really well.

Wow this is the coolest thing I have ever seen! Absolutely astounding!! My 350g is a baby after looking at this.

I'm probably a little overdue for an update, so here we are:

Tank (the glass is much cleaner now. Finally got a new scraper and got into the tank):

Testing my new wavemakers:

Lots of cavitation/vortex at high RPMs. They'll be deeper than this in the tank, so hopefully it won't be so severe:

My variable speed control gear. This generates the three phase power needed by the motors. Really nice bits of kit:

I'm getting the proper shafts for the motors in the next couple of days. There have been loads of problems with getting them to run straight. I think I'm going to need to put a teflon bush at the end to keep it steady.

After all of that, though, I'll finally be able to keep coral in my tank.
