Rock tower with stream - yr views pls?

In my new 6x2x2 tank I want to make sure there is as much flow in all areas without having problems with SPS being blasted with too much flow and also without the risk of dead spots. I also want to try and hide as many of the pumps etc as possible.

I'm looking at the idea of having a couple of tunze 6100 streams flowing water into/through my rockwork. The idea being there will be a couple of main rockwork towers which will need internal support via PVC piping, acrylic rod, tiewraps and milliput anyway in order to create the open rock structures and keep them solid.

I'll probably create the towers out of reef bones or dry live rock, so as I can spend time building them properly out of the tank until I am happy with them.

The idea is to have the 50mm outlet of the 6100 stream running into a 2" uPVC 90 deg swept bend and then into a length of uPVC 2" pipe. There would be a large number of large holes and slits cut with a dremel into the piping to allow easy water flow out.

The ubend and piping would be built onto a base of PVC sheet or mayby rock so there would be a solid mounting base. The stream would be mounted behind the rockwork, allowing access for cleaning etc. There would be lengths of acrylic rod fed through the Pvc pipe to help with rock mounting.

I appreciate that having the stream running into piping like this would reduce it's flow but with the large number of 1" holes cut in the pipe and with 12,000lt/hr on the 6100 I'm hoping this shouldn't be a problem. In effect although the 6100 has to 'pump' along 12" of 2" pipe, thereafter it is 'almost' open ended in effect.

Feedback welcome.

Thanks, Chris

I wouldn't use a Stream for this as the flow lacks any real pressure so it will not be effective, I would expect real flow from this will be about 3000 l/h. If you want to do something like this I would use a 7400/2. Honestly I would just get a wavebox it will probably more effectively control the detritus.
