I'm looking into buckeye field supply's chloramine special cuz it looks like Oakland, CA has chloramines and I also figure, overkill is better than under. What are the basics? I want to attach it to the sink and use a bin to store the water with a float valve. Can someone prime me on what I need so i can order one time around? Also, does the hardware stores commonly carry tubing, saddles, etc? And is Buckeye a good reputable retailer?

Thanks

I don't know about Buckeye.

You will need two saddles, one for the cold water tap to feed your unit. These you can find at Home Depot. The second one to push waste water into your drain... are harder to find. I have gotten these with my RO/DI units.

I would recommend a tank, versus an open bin, to store the water. You can then add a drinking water spout to your rig, with a second line to use for your tank. Usually, purchasing the drinking water add on kit from your RO/DI dealer is the easiest way to accomplish this. Vinyl drinking water tubing, valves, connectors, are all available at Home Depot.

FYI - your drinking water should not go through the DI filter (tastes funny).

I have used spectrapure, and GE setups, the plumbing diagrams vary quite a bit.

Hope that helps to start you out!

Buckeye is an excellent vendor. I would check with them first and tell them what your intended use is so they can recommend the correct parts and pieces. It may already come with the saddles to hook it up. You will also need an autoshutoff valve to shut it off once the float shuts off, otherwise the waste flow will continue to run. Ask for Russ or just contact him through the Buckeye Sponsors Forum here on RC, they are glad to answer questions.
