not sure

Are Onyx Percs as hardy as True Percs? I have a 29 gallon that is cycling right now and I am contemplating buying some Oscellaris in about a month or waiting and buying some Onyx in August.

one of my pairs. The female is not 100% Onyx yet but should fill in in a few months. I hope to breed them when they get old enough. They are almost 18 months since I got them.

Nice clowns Orion! My female is 18 months & has the same black as yours. I can see the dark shading but just refuses to fill in black.

On a side note, my Onxy & Picasso pair started cleaning a flat piece of rock next to the anem last night! Funny thing is... my male is only 8 months old.

woa orion i love your male, looks like the one on my avi
that is my female. I think she is getting her black fill in . I can start to see the dark shade in the orange between the second and third strip. If this is the case, then all five of my Onyx from Rod turn Onyx, 100 %.
All very beautiful and healthy. I only keep three of the five.

Jovereefer,
Are you going to attemp to raise the babies?

GSMguy,
How long have you have the Onyx with the BTA?
Some of the picture show very dark fish but other pictures show the color fade alot.

thats the newest picture, they have been in this BTA for about 5 months now, but only started this fade a couple weeks ago.

the male is being affected more than the female.

yesterday it looked like the female was getting darker, while the male looked the same.

i will update with some new pictures later

i am so upset by this, i might need to get a carpet.

Orion- I am most certianly going to try to raise them if they start laying. As of saturday night it looks like the male is still to young but the female is ready to start breeding.

She had her O...whatever out & was rubbing all over the rock & the little male was just rubbing in the anem & watching her like "whatcha doin?" then she'd run over and attack him, he'd shimmer & start cleaning the rocks but would not desplay any fertilizing behavior.

Its a real shame my ORA picasso & my rod's wont get along, the ORA would be old enough to breed & I'd have eggs right now.

Do picasso's and onyx's usually fight??? I figured being from the Percula family they would get along, unless they were introduced into the tank and different times.

I believe both the ORA picasso & the Rods are female that is why they fight.

The Picasso from another breeder that is paired with my Rods gets along fine with her.

Any pictures of them together?
