Hey! Great progress so far! Slow and steady as they say... I've got a few questions for you, as I'm planning out my equipment room as well.
1) I love the use of FRP on the walls! Clinical white is the way to go. What did you use for the ceiling? I USED AN FRP LIKE CEILING TILE. IT IS BASICALLY PLASTIC, MOLD, WATER RESISTANT.
2) What direction are you headed with your floor? I see that your FRP ends just above the concrete without any pictures of baseboard or flooring to speak of yet. I AM LEAVING THE FLOOR AS-IS SINCE ITS IN THE FISH ROOM AND NOT VISIBLE. I LEFT THE SPACING BETWEEN THE WALLS AND FLOOR IN CASE THERE IS A LEAK OR IN CASE WE EVE DECIDE TO FINISH THAT ROOM IN THE FAR FUTURE.
3) What is the vertical vent/drain next to the utility sink? THAT IS ACTUALLY PRETTY COOL. INSTEAD OF VENTING THE SINK DRAIN ALL THE WAY UP THROUGH THE ROOF, THEY DID THAT. NICE AND SIMPLE.
4) Any special planning in regards to the door or window in the room to prevent moisture in/around each? NO, NOT AT THIS POINT, BUT I DO HAVE A HIGH POWERRED BATHROOM EXHAUST FAN RUNNING 24/7 THT VENTS OUTSIDE, PLUS A DEHUMIDIFIER THAT DRAINS OUTSIDE AS WELL
5) What did you use for connection of your RO/DI to your water source? Did you have a hose bib plumbed? Tapped into your sink? Other? MY HOUSE PLUMBING IS PEX. I JUST CUT THE EXISTING LINE ADDED A PEX TEE AND THEN A STANDARD VALVE LIKE YOU'D USE UNDER A SINK OR TOILET. IT IS USUALLY ALWAYS ON, BUT I DO TURN IT OFF FROM TIME TO TIME. IT TOOK A LITTLE CREATIVE WORK AT LOWES TO MAKE ALL THE PIECES WORK.
6) You mentioned an emergency shut-off for your RO/DI? Can you explain? THAT IS THE THING I MENTIONED ABOVE. USUALLY IT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME AND STOPS BECAUSE OF MY FLOAT VALVES.
7) Am I correct that you have 4x dedicated 20A circuits for the room? Are these located on the main panel of the home, or inside of the equipment room on a sub-panel like I see on so many build threads? 2 OF THE 20A CIRCUITS ARE ON A SEPARATE PANEL (IN THE ELECTRICAL ROOM) THAT IS CONNECTED TO A GENERATOR. THAT PANEL ALSO HAS OUR WELL PUMP, SEPTIC, FRIDGE, FREEZER, ETC. THE OTHER 2 ARE ON THE MAIN PANEL.
8) Did you go with GFCI on all/some/none of the outlets in the room? If some, how did you decide which were and which weren't protected?ALL 4 HAVE GFCI ON THEM.
As you can tell, I'm trying to get as much info surrounding the construction of the room itself. Thanks for your insight into advance!
Oh yeah - GREAT choice of inspiration in GlassReef's room. During this build process, I should almost have his site as my home page I'm on it so often.
